Dumb question here but on my mobile (running latest version of iOS) I can’t seem to find the login link? Am I going blind?

Temp alternate solution is to click this link to take you to the login page:

https://www.pricescope.com/login

***************************************
@psadmin this needs fixed
***************************************

Assume you know to hit the burger menu to get to the main access screen:

Unfortunately there is only a SIGN UP option and not a simple LOGIN option. I’m mobile now but I believe this is clunky even on a computer setup (yet you do eventually get logged in).

Below are screen shots of what you see on mobile.

Thanks @sledge, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing but was wondering if I was doing something wrong.

also if you scroll to the last page of a thread there is a small link to click on to log in so that’s how I’ve been doing it!

Good detective work. I hadn't previously noticed that. Including a screen cap for those that may not be aware.

Also, I might add it's a little bit of a chore to LOG OUT of the mobile browser. Four steps, which are too many IMO.

1. Click the burger menu
2. Click your "user name"
3. Click "your account"
4. Finally click "Log out"

In comparison to a computer browser:

1. Click your username in the upper right corner
2. Use the drop down menu to log out

@psadmin looking into this further, it appears the login issue reported in posts #60-63 could easily be fixed by changing the forwarding link of the Register/Log In option inside the burger menu.

It's currently defaulted to: https://pricescope.com/community/login/register

Simply changing to this resolves: https://pricescope.com/community/login

The "clunkiness" of logging out could possibly be fixed by moving the username & alert OUTSIDE the burger menu (so it looks & behaves more similar to the desktop version).

Those alerts have to get moved. Too much work to keep clicking the burger menu. First world problems, eh? ;)2

I don't see Jewelry Pieces in the forum drop down menu. Is it possible for it to be added?

Kapow! Thanks @psadmin!

FYI, it flashes red like I have an alert during the refresh but goes back to plain. It’s accurately reporting the end result but the red needs to go away in the processing/loading screen.

The preloved link from the burger menu has a typo in it that means it is broken - I think it is missing the pricescope.com/ before the community/ part of the address.

HI:

Why am I getting alerts that random PS'ers have started a thread? I am not following anyone, yet I get alerts.

cheers--Sharon

I have not read all the posts, however, I found I could not insert smilies when I was using the mobile/cell phone version of PS when replying to posts.

Thanks for looking into this in advance.

DK :))

Posting this on my iPhone and no issues with smilies. :cool2::think::wavey:

Make sure you didn’t accidentally click on the edit mode, which does DISABLE smilies, bold, italics, etc. Well not really disables it, but forces you to write the code (if you know it). But when in “edit mode” you can’t hit the buttons to insert smilies.

Hope that made sense.

@psadmin while on this topic I noticed you added thin black lines to help provide visual separation that many complained about.

Agree something needs done but not a fan of the current style. I haven’t thought through what may be better. I just know it looks very dated as-is.

Glad this resolved it! I toggle back and forth quite a bit but have accidentally hit the button as well and quickly became frustrated until I realized what I did, lol.

Will give it a look. Can you send me a link to a specific post you feel you shouldn't have received?

I agree with you, I need to see what we can do but, I felt it was a quick fix in the meantime.

@psadmin
Can I request a (in my opinion pretty critical) revert/fix on PS 4.0 photo upload behaviour?

This is going to be a long post. Bear with me please.

- - - - - - - - - -

In PS 4.0, if we upload photos via the "Attach files" button, the default presentation behaviour is a thumbnail that is always much lower resolution than the actual photo that was uploaded.
  1. Choose photo using "Attach files" button:
    1626632582587.png

  2. This is the default manner in which the photo is attached - "Insert image" is selected behind the scenes by default, no extra attributes added in code:
    1626633448846.png

    3. And this is the photo that is uploaded finally.
    Yssie_Photo_Example.png

This image isn't just small, it's so compressed that it's outright blurry - all the faceting detail in those briolettes is missing. When posting photos of gemstones and diamonds, this renders patterning musy. When posting photos of finished pieces, this masks fine detail.

- - - - - - - - - -

In PS 4.0 there are four ways to view images with true-to-life clarity.

Method 1:

You can use the "Attach files" button, then choose "Full image" (or explicitly edit the attribute to "full"). This uploads the attachment with full clarity.

1626632582587.png

1626633699602.png

Now the image that is viewed by users scrolling down the page will be in full clarity:
yssie_photo_example-png.844196

Method 2:

You can upload to PS in any fashion, and rely on users to click the attachment itself (ie. Click within the blue box) - which opens it in a new window at full clarity:

1626634213873.png

1626634282296.png

Method 3:

You can upload to PS in any fashion, click the attachment yourself to open it in a new window, open the image in a new tab, copy the image URL, and upload that URL to PS using the IMG tags:

1626634213873.png

1626634635551.png

1626634763324.png

1626634825845.png

Now the image that is viewed by users scrolling down the page will be in full clarity:
yssie_photo_example-png.844196

Method 4:

You can upload to PS directly using the "Insert image" button. This uploads the image with the "full" attribute by default, so again,
now the image that is viewed by users scrolling down the page will be in full clarity:

1626635062581.png

yssie_photo_example-png.844196

This is what was uploaded behind the scenes:
1626635198012.png

- - - - - - - - - -

Okay, so what exactly is my problem?

The problem:

All photos that were uploaded to PS before PS 2.0 are now showing as those small blurry thumbnails. And because they're so old, members have no way to manually fix them such that people scrolling down a thread will see them as we had intended.

Interestingly, photos that were posted to PS in PS 2.0 that were originally copied from another PS 2.0 thread show in full clarity.

My post in this thread (#271) is a good example:
https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ngs-pretty-please.237623/page-10#post-4339083

I posted this during the PS 2.0 days. Originally, all the photos were the same size to the casual viewer scrolling down the page - this sort of presentation is actually really important to me.
  • In this post, I had copied the Erika Winters Estella bar pendants photo into this thread from another thread (also started in PS 2.0). This photo renders in full clarity in PS 4.0. This is what happened to this photo (in the thread linked right above this paragragph) during the PS upgrade:
    Code:
    [IMG]https://www.pricescope.com/community/attachments/yssie-g4-a-png.609067/[/IMG]
So now we know why this renders in full clarity on PS 4.0 - it attaches as an image, which uploads with the "full" attribute on the attachment behind the scenes.
  • In this post, I had uploaded the Birthday drops from the other half's grandmother photo directly into this thread. This photo is the problematic blurry thumbnail, no "full" attribute on the attachment tag behind the scenes:
    Code:
    [ATTACH]627054[/ATTACH]

My ask here is to please fix photos that were uploaded before PS 4.0 to include the "=full" ATTACH attribute value by default, so that viewers will experience them as the photo contributors had originally intended, without having to click into each and every one to see clarity and detail.
