I was pretty surprised with the price quote I got. I mean, I knew VC was pricey but um.... not like that. I just had to ask if this is anywhere near the price range I should expect. Last weekend I found a nearby B&M store with a few Van Craeynest settings- gorgeous in person! And one happened to be set with a stone with measurements similar to mine. The manager offered to call and let me know what they could sell just the setting for. Well, she called today and they''re asking $9,000 for just the setting. It is not one of the more diamond encrusted settings, though it is platinum and has a couple melee stones. I''ll see if I can attach a pic of it.
Am I just dreaming or is that an outrageously expensive price? Too late to call VC & pester them directly, though I will tomorrow I think. In the meantime I figured I''d ask here and see if I was just full of wishful thinking and that''s actually the low end of their price range. If that''s the case I could probably get the most totally micropave-encrusted Leon Mege setting for that... not that I have $9K to spend on any setting!
(I should add that the ring was originally priced at nearly $17K with a 1.1something ct stone in it, that looked only a little higher in color grade than mine; that is, maybe an L rather than my N- and mine is actually a bit larger, 1.22 ct.)
