I would love some opinions from you experts! If you had the opportunity to purchase an authentic old mine pear cut diamond, .75 carats, H color, SI1 clarity, what would you consider to be an "irresistible" price point for the stone?

Seriously - which is better - or would you pay more for?
Old original
New designed to look better

Good question. I have "new designed to look better" but am somehow still taken with the old stuff!

$1500? If it was really cute!

Edit...there are a lot of different factors that go into the price of a pre-loved stone. Location, who is selling it, what shape the stone
is in, etc. In my area, from my jeweler, I would probably pay more like $1200.

Thanks for your input! It's tough for me. I am such a bargain hunter that I often let something slip away because it isn't quite a good-enough deal ... I needed to hear your unbiased opinion!

Old pears are pretty rare to come by, especially if well cut/proportioned.
H is also a pretty high color in an old stone.
Is this an opportunity or something you’ve been searching for?
If the latter, you may want to consider having more flexibility in your budget.

I'm always searching for pears but wanted to go a *little* bigger if I could. This one is quite attractive. You've given great advice re: budget. Thank you!

can you return it if it's not to your liking? i would think 1k or so is good, i waited too long on one recently and can't find anything similar in that price range...

Nope. It's mine if I go for it.

oof that makes it a bit harder. i'm conservative with that kind of thing and would buy it if i felt like i could resell for the same or close to same price if it didn't work out.

what do your eyes and your intuition tell you???

Probably $1,200?

Fwiw I paid a bit over $1k for a 0.72ct old mine, but J-K and not-certed. So add a couple hundred more for the color and if it's GIA. Up to $1,500 would be reasonable to me.

It's difficult for me. I'm a colored-stone girl, so I always have difficulty going for diamonds, but a pear has been something I've always wanted.

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate your input. I'm trying so hard to be OBJECTIVE!
