I just want to send a massive thank you to everyone who took such time and trouble to send support and best wishes. It was such a lovely feeling to have arms round me from miles away. I really do feel supported in this awful time.

I was dreading coming down the stairs this morning. We have two other dogs, a 2 year old choccie lab and a 5 year old terrier. The terrier sleeps upstairs and always rushes in to see Meg as soon as she comes down, to make sure all is well with her. Well of course she did that this morning and has been looking all over for her. It broke my heart, but it will get easier.

I am going to cherish every wonderful memory of her and look forward so much to seeing her again at Rainbow Bridge. I have this lovely image of her young and healthy again and running around playing. Just before taking her yesterday I sat holding her, kissing her head and telling her that she will soon be happy and playing with her old best friend

Oh Samantha! I hope you are feeling okay right now, it sounds like you have made the most compassionate and considerate decision.
Putting an animal to sleep is a very humane process, any wriggles or twitches are completely normal and not indicative of any distress.
But I see from your post that it was a very calm experience, for both of you.

I know sweet loving Samantha is now having a good old time in doggie heaven, young and pain free.
