here is our inspiration cake...hoping ours turns out VERY similar, but ours will be ivory frosting.

I love this one.. however I don''t think I''ll be doing a pink and brown wedding.. my BF would never go for that.. plus he looks terrible in pink. Actually he wants MIDNIGHT BLUE and gold. *barfs*

star cakes. My favorite is Collette Peters'' Rainbow Room Cake, but I couldn''t get an image of it on the internet. So I''ll take a pic of it in the book in a little bit.(Hers is white fondant with gold stars and stunning.)


But in the meantime:

me, too!! i have an obsession with stars--they''re even tattooed on me! here''s one i saw a while back in a bridal magazine and liked.

I had to go to the store and buy a small cake. I am going to put strawberries on top of it, yum!

My FI and I agreed on a cake that is cream colored with gold fillagree designs. It is three tiered and square and was inspired by a cake on the cover of Martha Stewart. Our cake is elegant, "period" and slightly opulent, like our wedding. However, we also both agreed if we were picking our favorite cake in general, not to match our wedding, it would be more like this one.

I LOVE stars. As a Pagen, they are a symbol of my religion, but as we have a lot of curves and soft lines for our wedding, the sharpness of stars wouldn''t fit.

Here is my cake!!!!

I found the picture online, took it to our "Cake Lady," and got a price! We are using buttercream frosting instead of fondant and having the florist decorate it with real flowers instead of the rolled sugar ones. I can''t wait to see the final product on our big day....2 months to go!!!

Oh my gosh, you ladies have picked some STUNNING cakes! That is going to be the saddest part of having such a tiny wedding - no wedding cake. We will have some amazing desserts, but still, there''s just something special about a wedding cake.

This is our inspiration cake, but ours will be tiered with a 7" cake as the top tier and no extra layers on the sides or whatever. . .

ETA: Oh, and ours will be vanilla cupcakes with vanilla icing and chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing - all will have purple and red colored sugar.. .

Wow wedding cakes have changed alot since I got married almost 25 years ago, some of those cakes are just stunning

Sarah-Sorry I haven''t responded before now, but we do have a baker (in San Francisco) and when I showed her the picture, it didn''t seem like a big deal at all.

Here''s a close up of that same cake. I''ve actually considered switching my cake to this one as it would match my dress, as long as it was ivory with an ivory sash. But I really like my cake.
