I love my 2.9 K VS2 ACA but lately the tint has been bothering me a bit. I placed this 2.4 H SI Expert Select on hold for my lovely WF rep to inspect. They are approximately the same price so this is a size vs color consideration (and cut but I think Expert Select will be just fine). I see it as an affordable way to get an H color Whiteflash stone.

I love my current stone’s size, chunky arrows, super clean appearance and the only thing I would change is the slight body color.

This 2.4 also appears to have chunky arrows.

I’ve very much enjoyed not having DSS with my K>:B~

Any thoughts?

I don’t know if I could downgrade the size that much, what an I color? Do you have issues with that?

Yeah, I would look for something more along the lines of 9mm, I color. Going down in size that much will definitely be noticeable.

I agree, if you like the size, you might find the H stone to be too small. Without knowing the cost of your K stone, did you take a look at this I?

This is also the one I was looking at.

It would be hard for me to change the size that much too. Have you thought of changing the setting? For instance, if it faces up white, maybe a bezel setting so you don’t see the color from the side? Or maybe a different color metal?

I also have a bigger K but not as big as yours (in my avatar, 9 mm, 2.66 ct CBI) with much larger hands (size 9) so someday I dream of a 3.5 ct! But I am so afraid of losing out on my gorgeous K which looks so white and sparkly! When you originally posted your K the WF glamour shots looked really tinted to me. Way more tinted than mine. It had me staring at mine looking for tint for a while. The photos you took looked gorgeous though. The color range for a K is very wide. I think maybe your K ended up on the lower side. I understand completely the urge to go big or go home, but if you don’t love it maybe the I would be a good compromise? I agree with skipping the Js if you want colorless. I also now own a J CBI (pendant) and it looks exactly like my K.

If you are going to make a change, go for an H or just stay where you are. If the color is bothering you, I would move up to H which I feel is the lowest grade before tint becomes evident. Even though you will go down in size, if you upgrade the color enough, it’s brightness will have a positive difference in a good way, offsetting your lower size. It all comes down to what’s important to you: Size or color. You will still have a large ring. I went from a 9.59 mm round in I color to an 8.01 mm round in E color and I have no regrets... it’s brightness and lack of tint makes much more a statement than my previous large stone.

If the color is bothering you I agree with upgrading the color to a higher one. Even if you lose mm in diameter. Perhaps consider a different setting for your new stone ie halo or something to increase the visual size?
I also love @MissGotRocks suggestion. You wouldn't be giving up as much size that way and still getting a bump towards a less tinted color.

You have had the ring only for 3mo and it’s been such a long journey for you to get here. I would wait much longer before you change anything. I think that you will really miss the size and will likely continue to upgrade until you reach the same size again if you go for a higher colour now.

My rep who has seen my current stone suggests I’m better off with the 2.9 K over the 2.4 H. The 2.7 I is currently over budget so I’ll wait to upgrade. I’m still open to changing the setting to my original love, rose gold, tho. Thank you for all the input!
