Most of my necklaces are teeny-tiny and delicate. Well, most are DBTY! I've been wanting a yellow gold necklace which is more substantial. What do you think between these three? One is from Blue Nile and the other two are from Tiffany. The Blue Nile one is a copy of the gold designer Marco Bicego's work - which I like a lot, but not the price tag - and I really like the matte finish. I think it's a sophisticated design. But it's only 14k, and the Tiffany gold is so rich. Decisions!

First necklace is Blue Nile for $480.00, 14k yellow gold.
Second necklace is Tiffany for $1200, 18k yellow gold.
Third necklace is Tiffany gold horseshoe for $675.00, 18k yellow gold.

I think the horseshoe is seriously cute. I have a silver Tiffany horseshoe and it looks great. I'm just not sure if the horseshoe is quite large enough for what I was looking for.

Thoughts??

ETA: I forgot to set up the poll! Fixed now.

It's nice to have 18k gold. I've made a serious decision to try and stay with 18k from now on.
But that's in Australia, where the local choice is 18k, or a seriously crappy 9k.
14k seems very well accepted in the American market, and even preferred in some cases?

Perhaps you can special order the Blue Nile necklace in 18k?

I *like* the second and third ones, but I REALLY REALLY like the first one!

The only one I like is the first one, and I really, really like it. I was shocked to see it was the cheapest - I always seem to genuinely prefer the most expensive options, lol.

I really like the first one a lot!

Hi I voted for the first option is it satin finish? Have you seen satin finish pieces on 14k yellow gold? do you like that look or the high polish look?

I'd pick the Bluenile, primarily because I refuse to be a walking billboard for any advertiser unless they mail me monthly checks.

I've always loved that BN one, too! I don't mind a discreet logo. I'm waiting for a sale or a good discount code for the BN one. I don't think it's as large in real life as it looks online - measurements are about an inch long by half an inch wide.

I'm leaning towards the BN one and the Tiffany horseshoe, which I think is SO cute. I could get both for the price of the Tiffany circle one. I won't be making these purchases anytime soon, though.

Thanks, everyone! :wavey:

Honestly, if I had the money, I'd get the Tiffany circles. IF the day ever comes that you want to sell it, it will be easy to resell with the Tiffany name (and box!)

I like the BN one best by a long way -- more design to it; the Tiff ones could have come from anywhere (except they didn't!). But you like branded pieces, so go with either of the Tiffany ones. You'll enjoy it & iLander has a point: it will sell easily if you ever want to.

Thanks everyone! I do love the BN one, but like LaraOnline, I feel best in 18k these days...not always practical though. I don't like branded goods just for the name, but when I find a Tiffany piece that I genuinely like for its own sake, I can't deny that I also get a little extra lift from knowing it's a Tiffany piece.

I'm late, but I like the BN Marco Bicego knock off. I look at his stuff at Saks all the time. I've tried on his pieces, and they feel good. Is that strange to say? They feel good against my skin. Yeah, they're pricey!! And, BN has 20% off if you spend over $500. I just looked it up. I see you used the code. cool!! Definitely Marco wannabe!

Definitely the BN piece! Marco Bicego does some lovely things, I managed to find a beautiful necklace for a deal on eBay once, probably worth keeping a lookout there too???

Thanks everyone! No votes for the little horseshoe....? I love that - it's so cute!

It IS nice to be a teensy part of history, and you do get that with brands.
But you also get the mass manufacturing and all the commercial aspects that come with the Big Names.

I would love to have a little piece of real Chanel couture, bought while Karl Lagerfield is still in charge.
That man's a bonafide genius and it's exciting to see that level of OMG.

I think one day if I find the right piece I will pick up a fragment of the Tiffany legend.
I live in the country though so it will have to be during a trip to the 'big smoke'.
Buying from a Big Name is definitely not an online shopping experience!!!

I like both circle necklaces, and I can't decide which of those I like better. On one hand, I like the polished look of the T&Co necklace, but on the other hand, I also like the "rougher" look of the other one. It seems a bit more unique. So, sorry, Smith, I'm apparently no help!

I can understand about Chanel, but it will costs thousands and at the end of the day, it's fabric, which will always decay and corrode. You're better off with jewels which will last forever!! :Up_to_something:

I don't mind the mass-manufacturing and commercial aspects. The manufacturing on my Tiffany things is so good - e.g. my silver horseshoe pendant has bevelled edges, which gives it another dimension. It's just perfect. Also, I have these gold bow earrings. Other places do gold bow earrings, but none are so finely wrought and delicate as the Tiffany ones. And the commercial aspect means good service, I think.
