.... My husband stocked up on wine, I bought extra chocolate bars :lol::lol::lol: If the Zombie Apocalypse is going down, forget the TP, he's going to get drunk and I'm going to get high on sugar....

Ah Ha!
Chocolate and wine! :naughty:

Seeeeee HOW you ARE! ? :nono:
Exactly line me! ....... an evil way to be!

LOL

We've actually been thinking of getting a Toto washlet (bidet seat). When we redid our bathroom a few years ago, we had a Toto toilet put in with the idea of someday changing out the standard seat for a washlet, if hubby's shoulder arthritis got worse. It hasn't gotten worse, but still I think it would be nice to have the bidet seat.

But as to your question, I would not stand in line for TP. I'd pay a little more at another store, maybe enough for 1-2 weeks, then go back to Costco another day and see if they are better stocked.

Uhm ... I don't want a wet buttcrack, thank you very much.

I think hot water, soap and friction are needed to clean off dingeberries.
I can't see how a simple spray is gonna make me clean.
But then maybe if you don't use TP you'd never get dingleberries down there.
Enquiring minds want to know.

Come to think about it, has there ever been a scientific analysis (opps, sorry) of the composition of dingleberries?

Penny for your thoughts ...

Yes, lots of places sell TP, but I find Costco is the least-expensive place to buy high quality TP in bulk.
Bulk buying 30 rolls together reduces car trips.
Minimizing driving trips is more green ...... not that everyone gives a shit about the planet.
People vary, ya know.

If you go back the next day specifically to buy the pack of tp your car will create those emissions only for that pack and cost you money for this trip only. Not green.
Plus 2 hours in line of your precious time when you could be making (I am being VERY conservative here) 15$ after tax. Cost of 30 rolls= 32$ depending on gas.
Plus the emissions.
Trip on foot to mom & pop shop: 30 rolls =30 $ , no emissions, support local business.

That said : What ARE you doing with 30 rolls of Kirkland for 2 people /month ???
Our Kirkland comes in 72 packs (only available format over here). It lasts much longer than an month with 9 people. 5 of them kids who need to be reminded not to use too much.... And constant houseguests...

We have a TP subscription through Amazon that delivers a case of 3 packs, or 24 jumbo rolls. I think that can last around 2 months.

Speaking of hoarding...

Last night it was time to buy my usual monthly (just guessing) 30-roll package of toilet paper at Costco (only one package).
But they were sold out, and have been selling out an hour after opening.

Tomorrow I plan to do as the Costco manager advised, stand in line 1 to 2 hours before opening to assure I get some.

If you were yourself in my situation, would you buy only the usual single package of 30 rolls?
Or would you buy more to avoid having to stand in line next month, and the month after that, etc. if this goes on?
IOW would you join the hoarders?

IOW would/should we be community minded, or selfish?
Should we act out of fear, or remain calm?

I would order it online at Costco which is just what I did. And I would order 2 packages just to hold you over for a little while should it be necessary. Not so much as to hoard but just a bit extra in case. And remain calm. Right now I am concerned about getting a sufficient supply of meds should there be a shortage but I don't think I will be able to so I have decided to remain calm and hope for the best. One day at a time.

I'm just going to say 'back, sac and crack'...

My understanding is that 'the Muslim way' is to get rid of most/all fuzz 'down there', in order to allow easier cleaning in the sort of hot countries where it is the majority religion.

Cleanliness is most definitely next to godliness in those countries, from what I can tell - Turkey had spotless toilets everywhere, much cleaner than the filthy mess people over here in the UK seem to think is an acceptable way to leave facilities when they walk out...

I always buy extra and have for years...when something goes on sale and it a really good deal I buy extra, I actually have a stockpile of TP, paper towels, shampoo and the list goes on..I have a extra bedroom and I keep shelves in there for my excess and it is very organized and I maintain it and rotate stuff...to me its a game to see how little I can pay for stuff...

Sorry, but people going mad and stockpiling is what’s causing the shortages.

Exactly. People need to be smart but kind too. That is why buying one package plus one is a good compromise IMO. And I have always bought 2 packages of TP anyway so nothing has changed with us lol. We like our TP. Or rather I do as Greg uses much less TP than I do. Oops is that TMI? :P2

And while we are discussing TP...do you like it folded under or over on the roll?

I went to Walgreens yesterday and they had plenty of everything. I bought two 6 packs of TP and two small bottles of hand sanitizer.

That's very organised !
Im impressed with the roating
I have been not working while the other half has been unwell and have been on a limited income for a more than a year now
i didn't have to buy soap, shamoo, washing up liquid or washing powder, for about 6 months and considering we had a good chuck out before we moved two years ago i still havn't had to buy any make up, deodorant moisturizer or hand cream etc
I did have to buy hair die though
But i do wonder if i had been working through that time if i would have ever used alot of that stuff
so much brand new unopened makeup sitting their for years

annoyingly we had threw out the hand sanatizer bar one little pot, because we only used it 4x4ing or camping

And it was really nice scented moisturizing stuff

The water hoarding is crazy at my Costco. I have seen people pushing multiple carts filled with water bottles. I don't get it. But we have an RO system and a filter on our fridge. Do they think the water supply will be affected?

Just think of all that plastic, when for most people in the West the stuff that comes out of the kitchen tap is 95% of the time 100% safe and drinkable

Admittedly i grew up in a place where the only negstive was the water tasted yuck but an inline filter sorted that out

Just a though on hoarding
i have a beer fridge in the laundry with a freezer just big enough for a few packets of frozen veg, some frozen french fries, a pack of emergency bacon :mrgreen2: , an energency 1lt milk (just incase we run out ) and a frozen chicken
I rotated the frozen veg on grocery day this week and after about 6 months (?)the green beans were a bit freezer burnt

Its a jinormouse waste of money if you don't manage the hoarding

I use a squatty potty and DH uses a bidet he installed in one of the toilets, so our TP supply from Costco lasts a long time. And if I'm quarantined at home, I'd shower after #2 if the TP ran out. We also have Costco size tissue paper supply.so that could take care of #1 during quarantine.

Why stop there when you can have this? I mean, who doesn't need a nightlight in the toilet bowl?

DH put these lights in the toilet, which are pretty cool and help with aiming in the dark:

So, there were already 40 people in front of me when I arrived at Costco at 9:00 for their 10:00 opening.
When Costco finally opened the single-file line reached around the front, side, and back of the huge building.

While waiting, a big burly manager barked out line-forming orders to the customers, and to his employees who were stationed along the line.
He also announced they had no water at that time; that day's water delivery time was uncertain, also that TP and paper towels had a limit of 2 per customer.
He emphasized to NOT run when in the store.
(I later learned that the previous day there was a rushing mob that was a big problem.)

By 9:30 LOTS of customers were arriving, unhappy about the line.
Several tried to cut in, but got a mouthful from those in line.
Most moved to the the end of the line but several did not.
They just stood there next to people who had been waiting over an hour, silently staring at their phones - I guess pretending to not speak english or something.
One customer notified the manager, but he said there's not much he could do.

There was no shouting or pushing, but the tension was very palpable.
They opened the doors 10 minutes early, smart.
Inside, employees were stationed all along the route to where the paper was.
To speed things up employees loaded the paper goods into our carts for us.
All the time employees were shouting, SINGLE FILE LINE!

It was surreal.
When I finally made it to my car I took several deep breaths.
It was stressful, but I got my stuff.

ETA: I bought the limit, 2 each - not to hoard, but to avoid this huge hassle caused by the hoarders.
I was not there because of the virus panic; I was simply out of TP and PT.

Wow it's like Black Friday shopping for toilet paper @kenny!

I managed to get a 24pk at the Stop and Shop up the street, lots of it too, walked in and right out. Hand sanitizer is a whole different thing but I'm not buying any so wasn't an issue. I also noticed the Lysol wipes aisle was hopping but again not something we buy anyways.

This is the most amazing PriceScope cope thread ever! LOL
I feel I know all of you better than I do my own family or even people I’ve known for a million years…
Not that this is stuff I need to know about LOL :lol::lol:

Edit...Except it’s good to know that I’m not the only chocolate addict out there.

LOL! :lol-2:

Bibi is saying, :eek2::eek2::eek2::eek2::eek2: WFT Kenny?

I'm not going to be of any help because I buy TP 6 months at a time. Last week there was plenty, and I had coupons to use. This week the BJ's nearest me still has toilet paper and water. Matter of fact, the grocery stores do to. I do wonder how the snowbirds who plan on trying to stick it out will fare considering.

I think if we hoard anything it would more than likely be water. But that's because the water here seems undrinkable. It literally smells like green mold or something to me when I turn on the spigot, and I have now lived in 3 apartments in 3 different parts of the area. In all of them if I drink it, I'm sick. So screw all that. Tp though? Nah. We buy a big one in bulk and it already lasts 3 or 4 months since it's just me and my husband using it right now.

Call me crazy, I’m not concerned about TP shortage, and we are a high TP usage family with fast metabolisms!

In a pinch, I’d improvise with Kleenex, then napkins, or paper towels. There is also cottonelle wet wipes or baby wipes....plenty of other solutions!

FWIW, Kleenex, napkins, and paper towels don't dissolve as quickly in water as TP does.
They are one big reason drain lines clog.

Our nearly 100 year old house has the original sectioned clay drain pipes, some with jagged cracks from tree roots.
One plumber even put a video camera, at the end of the snake, down there to show me.
Gross but informative.
Plumbers have told me those stubborn paper products would get caught on those cracks, causing clogs, and I'd be calling a plumber every week.

Even if your drain lines are new, I'd guess your city's waste processing facility hates that people flush those stubborn paper products down the toilet.

I was reading yesterday that wipes manufacturs in Australia have been fined for printing on their packaging that wipes are flushable

Indeed.
The owner of the plumbing company, who send that camera down our drain, told me that non-TP bumwipe products like "Tucks", should never be used with our plumbing.

I think i mucked up this weeks grocery order
i may have underestimates how much loo roll we need this week
we may just have to break into the reserve 4 pack :mrgreen2:
