Kenny says, "Your honor, people vary.
Some buy TP in 4-packs more often, some in 30-packs less often.
For years I've been a Costco 30-packer.
Buying larger packs less often doesn't mean one uses more; it's just, the optics are more sensational.

In spite of exhibit A, the humorous pic of Bibi and the paper tower, I swear I am not hoarding, your honor.

It was just the usual time to buy it in the usual amount, but this time I had to wait in line for an hour.
Kenny facing the jury and weeping, Since that was a hassle so I bought two."

The jury is still deliberating.
Stay tuned.
Film at 11.

I don't mean to devalue the intelligence of sheep but people are dumber than sheep right now

Why do we have to even be told NZ has plenty of food ?
that's what we do as our job in the world
we grow food
(We also make plenty of toilet paper for our own needs)

Interesting to see the other side of the isle has nornal stocks of bread

Another disturbing thing I've heard on a livestream was the sentiment that people are making "go" bags which include guns. A person who already owns a gun, is going to buy another gun to put in said "go" bag. Okay, within the law, I guess go for it, but I don't understand this level of fear. For most people, it's probably just going to be a bad flu. Where is everyone going to "go" anyway?

I do have a go bag in case I have to leave my house in an emergency situation. Hurricane, flood, fire, tornado. When I lived in Massachusetts, add a bad ass blizzard if necessary.

I'm also a gun owner. Thankfully not one thats so stupid to put an untried weapon in a go bag but there you are.

There are those that are reasonable and those that are...not Go bags are for (in general) natural disasters where you got to get out of the present situation quick, and you might end up in an area where you have to fend for youself. Prepping a go bag for a hurricane? makes sense. Tornado? Same. Flood? Ditto. What amounts to the flu? well unless you plan on shooting Lysol bullets out that gun that would be a no. I don't begrudge someone carrying, as I carry a gun or at the very least pepper spray anytime I leave the house and its a legal option to do so. But admittedly common sense is not all that common.

Some are (for whatever reason) envisioning a breakdown in society over this.

@Arcadian Right? I don't get how people are panicking to the point of fearing the actual apocalypse happening instead of a medical issue. When we lived in earthquake territory, we had an earthquake preparedness kit. We have no fear of natural disasters where we live now on the Canadian Shield.

In a situation where there IS going to be a breakdown in society, say aliens are landing, yeah, I would get the hype. But the truth is, there likely isn't anywhere else for most people to go. Traffic jams would lead to people being stranded on the road together. I hope cooler heads will prevail.

At first, I didn't think much of preparing for the coronavirus, but then I decided there's no downside in preparing other than storage and cost. I purchased 1-2 extra of everything I could think of (shelf stable foods, household items) as the virus is spreading rapidly and supply chains could become contaminated. That way, I am prepared for self-quarantine and social distancing, which I have begun. Best case scenario, I don't have to shop for a long time. Worst case scenario, I am prepared.

I think that is more sensible as opposed to hoarding

Can't beat them, join them. I stocked up on TP, paper towels, hand soap, cleaning products, cough medicine and fever reducers. It's all stuff I'll use eventually. My guess is OTC meds are the next to fly off the shelf. It's less about hysteria but more about not having to worry about finding the stuff due to other's hysteria. Still can't find hand sanitizer which I use because I have a newborn.

First confirmed case in my city. I imagine it will only get harder to find stuff.
