Polishing the interior of a setting?

I have a three-stone trellis setting that is completely unpolished on the inside of the gallery. It was my first ring and I did not think to ask about it, although of course I could see it if I looked closely while I had it off my hand and it was one of the things that I did not like about that ring. I guess I just assumed that the jeweler polished it the best they could, but as I see more pieces, I wonder whether they were sloppy about it.

I reset the center stone into a setting I love, so I have this setting and sidestones sitting around and I do not think I will ever wear it. The mounting is in very good shape. I would consider selling the mounting, but before I do so, I'm wondering whether it is common for the gallery interior to be unpolished. Or, if this is very uncommon, perhaps I can take it to a jeweler for an estimate to polish the interior (and hopefully it would not be expensive - or, if this is the original jeweler's error, I can maybe get them to take care of it). I am just not sure!

What do you think, Pricescopers? If you have (or have seen) a similar type of cast setting, is the gallery interior polished?

Half a day in a rumble vibrator polisher with steel pointy shot will not harm the gems and gets into impossible places.

Find a bench jeweller with one - they are very common.

What Garry is suggesting is an excellent idea.
But the cold hard truth is that a cast piece ( this sounds like what you have) will never attain the polish of hand forged for the simple reason that when using wires to make a ring ( hand forged) they are shiny 360 degrees. This is particularly noticeable on inside curves.
No matter how long you tumble a cast piece it will never attain that level of perfection.Maybe a good use would be to set a colored stone into the existing setting= either for sale, or to get use out of it yourself.

Thanks, Garry!

Rockdiamond - It is cast, and that is also part of why I gave it a pass. But what should the inside of the gallery of a cast piece look like? What is acceptable?

I don't think I will ever wear it, but you are right that putting some type of stone in there would help. Peering into the space where the center stone used to be is what is allowing me to really see it now. With a center stone, it is not an issue while worn.

I don't have a solution for you, but mine is also unpolished and it bugs me too! Mine even has a visible burr of metal underneath one of the baskets.
