I voted for set 2 because I personally would choose that color/clarity combo. I couldn''t find crown/pavilion angles on any of the stones though to determine which are cut better.

Thanks for te vote

Forgot to mention that both sets score very well on the Cut Avdisor (Both withing TIC range). Also both sets have same Excellent/Ideal Symmetry & Polish and No or faint Fluorescence.

I voted 2 also, mainly due to the color/clarity combo also.

Guys thanks for all those who voted, but I am abit confused.

I thought set1 has a better colour/clarity combo since it has a near colourless E & F combined with the SI1 clarity.

Set2 on the other hand has a lower graded colours of H & I with SI1 & SI2 clarity. I was under the impression that the higher Ct. will be the selling point for set2.

Am I missing something

Nope ... don''t think you''re missing anything at all.

I think that a lot of people, or at least those who tend to be color sensitive, don''t mind "lower" colors for earrings b/c of the cost savings involved but "higher" colors for rings etc. The H I/SI1 or 2 combo will allow you to get a bigger carat size for your buck. Myself, if I had the budget, would prefer the bigger carat size with E/F color.

Given your choices, I would go with whichever pair of earrings looked "cleaner" or had less inclusions b/c, for earrings, the color shouldn''t be too much of an issue, unless, of course, it is a matter of personal preference. For that matter, clarity shouldn''t be that much of an issue either given that the stones are "eyeclean".

Good luck!

Looks like set2 then.

Any one thinks I can do better for the budget $1600 ?

Assuming the stones are WELL-CUT, eye-clean, and face up white, I would always absolutely choose "lower color/lower clarity"... that lets me save money, OR (better yet!) put my money towards MORE SIZE, BABEEEE!

They both are Ideal Cut and scored high on the Cut Adviser.

What remains now is to ask for someone to check they are Eye clean. I will also need to find an independent appraiser - Not an easy task in the UK.

Anyone from the UK here could direct me?
