Please tell me if this is a bad idea for a pendant

So I have this platinum Ritani setting which cannot be resized due to the stones on the band. The center diamond is a lovely GSI1 0.50ct. I've been wanting a new pendant and had what may be a crazy/overly difficult thought. I had been thinking about removing the center from the bezel and scrapping the setting, but then I thought, could I leave the stone in the bezel, and just have the band cut off? Have a rear framework or loops added, and convert the bezel into a pendant? Has anyone else done this and have any feedback? I'm thinking about something like the attached BG pendant.

I’m not a jeweler, but I don’t see why that wouldn’t be possible. I don’t think it would be particularly expensive either, but that would depend on labor costs in your area. I think it would look great!

I think it’s a great idea and simple for the right bench. You can likely sell the gold from the shank/band to help pay for the costs.
