Hello,

Please let me know if I am in the wrong forum and if I should put this in the colored stone forum.

I received this ring as a gift from a family friend and it is a size 7. I really, really like it and would like to wear it as a RHR but I need to know if I can have it safely sized from a size 7 to a 4.5 - 5 which is what I would need in order to wear it comfortably.
Right now it is just way too big for me.
Could the experts please chime in or anyone else who may have info. I have no clue.

Thanks so much!

Is it full or 3/4 eternity? If so, I say no way. And even if not...taking it down to a 4.5 is a LOT smaller and will likely disrupt the pave IMO. Sorry.

From the picture, it looks like a half eternity to me (if I''m wrong about that, disregard the rest of the message and just consider me to be in agreement with Neatfreak). If it is a half eternity, you could probably have it safely sized down 2 sizes (at least, that''s what I remember reading somewhere), and consider putting sizing beads or a horseshoe sizer in to make up the remaining half size if it''s still too loose at a 5. For the sake of ease, is there any chance of simply exchanging the original for your own size?

Thanks so much guys for the info!
Circe is right the ring is only half eternity not full or 3/4.
Circe I think I will take your advice and bring it down only from a 7 to a 5 and then just have them put in sizing beads.
Honestly I don''t know why I didn''t think of sizing beads but then that''s what all the helpful people on PS are all about helping dummies like me

Thanks a million!
I really like this ring and I didn''t want to just let it sit w/o being able to wear it.
Do you guys think it would make a decent RHR??

You need to check with a competent jeweler before making the purchase. I predict a nightmare of loose and lost stones going down that far. (7 to 5) The sizing down is going to spread the prongs. Since these look like common prongs there is no way to tighten the prong on one side without loosening the prong on the diamond on the other side.

Only a good craftsman can tell you for sure, but I do not envision it working well.

Thank you thank you thank you Wink!
You are right and an expert so I"m going with your word.
I don''t want to find out that it won''t work via having to pay for new stones since the old ones have fallen out. I''m a student I really can''t afford it and trust me when I say where I am in Canada there isn''t anyone with the expertise to even tell me whether or not it is feasible.
It sounds like it will be a huge hassle and I don''t need the headache.
I''ll just save up and get a nice RHR in my size at some point.
I''m very grateful that you saw this and gave me your opinion.
All the best!

Aii! Didn''t notice the shared prongs - Wink is entirely correct. Apologies for the partial advice ....

No worries Circe thanks for taking the time to reply I really appreciate it. Disaster avoided!
