Please teach me about my cushion!

Hi Everyone,

This follows my post months ago when I asked about my cushion e-ring (previous post here). I finally scanned in my certificate and am hoping you can teach me more about my stone. Based on the numbers, is it within the ideal ranges? How is the spread, does it face up smaller/larger than its carat weight? Is this a 8 main pavillion?

Yes its an 8 main, you can't judge a cushion by the numbers as you are probably aware, there are various proportion configurations which can result in a great looking cushion and no real " ideal" ranges so what we can tell you from the report is limited unfortunately. However the cushion looks nice from what can be seen in the photo, what is important is if you are pleased with it, the ring looks great on you and it appears to have lovely chunky facets!

Based on the photos, I think your cushion is a very lovely one.

If I were to critique, I would be concerned about the extremly thin girdle but it really depends on where it is and how much of it is extremly thin - an appraiser can help you with that. The depth is more shallow than what I consider ideal (assuming I am reading it right at 59%?) - this does mean that you will get more spread and face up size. The table is a little larger than I normally like. However, with all that said - your cushion is beautiful and reiterates why numbers don''t matter that much for cushions.

Thanks Lorelei for the links. And you''re right, I''m aware that cushions are unique in their own way and that the important thing is that I am pleased with it (and I am!). I''m still a beginner in the diamond world and I know I could always rely on you (and others on PS) for education on stones!
