I''ve discovered that I''m not that color sensitive, so I''ve added a few J cushions to my "maybe" list. I don''t recall seeing any here (most people say that cushions start showing color around I), but if you have one, please indulge me and share!

Thanks!

Here is my J cushion next to my F ideal round:

Here it is after being set (excuse the dust on it already):

GORGEOUS cushion, Silverlily.

Glitterbug--my cushion is a g, but I prefer a warmer cushion when it''s an antique-style cut. I think they look so beautiful. Mine is a modified cushion brilliant, so it has the crushed ice look, instead.

Can''t wait to see more pictures!

Silverlily, your cushion is to die for!!!

I can''t believe it''s a J! Does it have fluorescence? I have never seen a J so white and bright!

Haven, I totally agree with you! I don''t mind warmth (actually prefer it) in chunkier faceted stones. I''m looking at cushion brilliants, so I hope to get lucky and find an antique-y stone with a touch of warmth. Btw, your ring is one of my faves on this site. :)

Any other J''s lurking around here? C''mon, I know you''re out there!

Hi Glitterbug!

I have one! Pictures in this thread...
It is finally done being set at Leon''s but now I have to wait to get it on my hot lil hand! I''ll be posting pics the second I get it!

Have you started your search yet?

CrookedRock - no way, yours is a J? It''s gorgeous as well! I would have never guessed based on your pics. I''m basically looking for your stone''s kid sister! 1.5ish carats is perfect on my hand.

I have started my search... so far I''ve been in touch with Abazias about a stone I saw on their site (which seems to be unavailable elsewhere), and I have Mark T looking as well. Our budget isn''t huge so it might be a challenge to find the perfect-for-us stone. But, I have hope!

My jeweler here in L.A. also has a lovely 1.33 I VVS1 at a GREAT price, but it is a modified brilliant, and I''m not sure I want to commit to that before seeing some cushion brilliants first.

Will keep you guys posted! In the meantime... more J''s, please!!

LOL... So sweet! So excited for you to go see it! Yours sounds almost perfect for glitterbug except for the fact that it''s blazing white!!!

But I think the size and cut are just right for her!

Glitterbug-my suggestion is have patience...Mark is fantastic at finding these stones, but they are rare, especially in the less than 2 ct. range.

Uh oh, am I in trouble then?! I''m in the .5 market!

Sunny... Don''t worry too much! There seems to be a few .5 Cushion Brilliant''s on Blue Nile. You''ll find what you''re looking for!

Thanx Maisie! I''m dying to be able to post pics!!!

Oh good! Off to check those out... woohoo! Thanks Crooked, man I''m excited to see yours, that is a HONKER!!

Hehe... you''re so right - patience is key! It''s soooo hard though! Mark told me today that cushion brilliants with large ratios are extremely rare and almost impossible to find. I''m really disappointed with that because I had no idea! I don''t want to settle for a modified stone when what I really want is a chunky one, but it may have to be the case. I want rectangular AND chunky - no small feat, apparently.

How long did it take to find your stone? It''s seriously EXACTLY what I''m looking for, except I want mine to be warmer (mostly due to budget reasons)!

is modified brilliant like a radiant...
I can''t believe this I''m getting interested in cushions now (groan)
I think I want a squarish one

Hi LaraOnline!
35.gif

Check out this thread - https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/a-cushion-by-any-other-name.36001/ - there is a wealth of information about *ALL* the different types of cushions in there! A more simplistic way to remember the difference is that modified cushions tend to look more like crushed ice (yeah, kinda like a radiant, now that I think about it) and cushion brilliants are more antique looking with chunkier faceting. I know this isn''t the case for every single stone, but it''s a good rule of thumb to follow.

Cushions rock!! You should totally join the club! hehe

Hey glitterbug,
you are a really good sport, thank you so much. I have much to learn in the way of cushions!!!

ETA: hey, had to edit to add (and sorry to hijak, girls!) ...you can't get cushions with ugrade facilities from WF can you? Only princess/modified princess? (Expert Selection and ACA)
Where would you get an upgradeable cushion around PS?

hey!! had to edit again!! I wanted to thank you for the thread, it's really informative, thank you!!

Hi Lara,
I''m not positive but I would ask Jon at GOG. He hand picks his cushions, same as his ideal h&A''s. There could be a chance they also have his lifetime upgrade policy, which is a wise thing to pursue.
have you started a thread about what you want, or is it too far in the future to worry now?

This thread is really not helping my addiction any. Between these and MrsS''s soon-to-be ring, I really think I need a cushion!!!!!!!!!! I love every size and color of the chunky cushions!!! Cushions are great for warmer colors since they are antique-looking!!!!!

All of your stones are GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I''m so with you DS! I think a trip to NYC to visit Mark and Leon in person must be in my cards...

(in the FARrrrr future though, lol!) I already owe Jon a visit at GOG if I make it to NY!
Oi vay, me going to go broke

We really really lucked out as he had it when I went in the first time. But the whole search took about a month since I was "positive" I wanted something larger. In that time, Mark didn''t find any other stones. SOOO this was the only stone we saw within our criteria.

Well, I did think about starting one thread, entitled: "how do you know what you want?!!"
It''s all so
18.gif

Well, I don''t want to get all revved up and then - splat - but I''m hoping to receive it in january next year. That is when all the special occasions in my life take place, and it''s my fifth anniversary to boot! But perhaps we will start doing it seriously then - as in laying the money down - and I''ll have it in my eager hands when my third child is born later in the year.
(please note: I am not pregnant yet! hahah
2.gif

I''m thinking a solitaire - and for a few months, I''ve just been concentrating on two styles only, so that''s a good sign - but now I''m flirting with cushion over RB?? !

I think I''m the type of girl who really needs to take her time though. I''ve got a feeling that although my husband is happy to talk a ''proper'' engagement/wedding set now, we will not be the type of family where mum gets an upgrade every five years or so. Y''know? Hey, he''s an Aussie!!!
I have to say, I''m really happy to take my time though, as I''m enjoying the journey!!!! In fact, I''m obsessed!

Anyway, I''m so sorry to buttinski from the main topic

The concept of buying from GOG is exciting, as the stone selection seems from reports to be so fantastically terrific.
Although, I have to say that I am confused by their website, with the ring search?
I only ever turn up a couple of solitaires (in YG though, maybe they don''t do YG much?)

Thanks for all the input, ladies! I *may* have a couple of contenders from Mark very soon! Yay!
36.gif
Who knew cushion brilliants were so hard to find?!

My heart stopped after looking at Crooked''s stone.
Dang... not the way to stop my ring obsession!!!

Thanks 2 danes! I''m counting down the days!!
