Something else that this CBI does that I have not been able to recreate with my other diamonds— the fire it literally throws out (in a rainbow fireball?!). What am I looking at here? Is it a side facet that is making the “ball” appear? That is definitely another thing I’ve noticed about this diamond as compared to my other diamonds—the sides and underside also seem to scintillate as an extra surprise.

Yes, it really looks like that! It all depends on the lighting environment. It doesn’t throw off rainbows like that when it’s overcast for example. I shot it in 2x with my iPhone, which is like a longer/zoomed lens, which I think is good for capturing fire because the camera had to be further away. Think of a telescope, but not that extreme.

Here’s what it looks like from the opposite direction that I shot the video, with the windows in front of me instead of behind me. No fire. Just reflections of the environment including a white walls/ceiling, cinnamon maple hardwood (similar color to blinds), and the periwinkle robe I was wearing. There’s also more windows to my right but without direct sun.

CBI’s are so amazing that modern photography equipment can’t capture the real life scintillation and fire.

I took my .56G si2 and added a sapphire and a .57F Si1 and wink made me this gorgeous platinum trellis ring, my new obsession. The sapphire is by Gary at Finewater Gems.

@cottoncandy and anyone else interested... this is what my window looks like (note the wood slat blinds). That’s my couch where I lounge and give myself tendinitis while I watch the rolling rainbows. This is not the best representation of the diamond (window at my back to view the rainbows!)—just wanted to show the window!

New 0.90 F SI1 CBI in the same setting— I am horrible at capturing these diamonds (all diamonds, really!). But this gets to the mesmerizing aspect of these that I’ve seen—the “on/off scintillation” caught here with rainbows outlining a couple of the arrows. With just the slightest tilt, the black goes to a full spectrum of colors. It is the coolest thing! Just like @cottoncandy’s video above... but a screenshot here. How lucky am I that this is on my family room couch?!

i LOVE everyone’s CBIs on this thread! i have to admit, i am 10000000% an old cut lover but something about these stones called to me! this will be my first MRB since joining PS

anyway, i will be the new proud owner of an amazing 1.26ct K VS1 CBI in a 14k RG ring setting hopefully in a couple weeks i hope it is okay that i post a cell phone pic from the lovely person i have been working wih at HPD .. i am counting down the days

I'm a bit clarity phobic (it's stupid, I wish I could go SI1, it's such a great price point and I trust CBI to only do amazing SI1s) so I couldn't quite do it, but I WISH I wasn't clarity phobic or that diamond would have been mine mine mine mine with how many sweet spots it hit!!!! GORGEOUS DIAMOND!!!

I had compared the H to a J (from another store) and didn’t really see much tint in the J so decided why not. Since the SI2 clarity didn’t bother me much I felt safe going with the SI1

Haha yeah a carat huh! And you nearly doubled it. I have to say I was really impressed by how white that J was in person. Maybe I was just seeing it on a great day but I was sooooo impressed. I'm seriously colour sensitive but with CBIs I seem to be very colour tolerant. Great cut will do that huh.

I really wish I could be on board with SI1s... My previous was an F SI1 and I promised myself I wouldn't do SI1 again, and that's the only reason why. I KNOW CBI SI1s are eye clean, but SI1s in general aren't mind clean for me and that was the only reason. It was certainly a great size and such great value for money. It was a beautiful stone. It's light performance was magical. I envy you! I envy the SI2 owners as well, I could have totally bought an H SI2 in another life. As I said, my reasons are stupid.

Is it bad of me to say I don't understand why someone would spend so much money on a diamond and then not keep it clean? Even half a day of normal wear is enough to affect the light performance of even a best cut stone. I get genuine anxiety from it, which is maybe a bit extreme...

Also I don't mind people trying on my ring, but why do they feel the need to put their fingers right on the top of the diamond as they do so?! Arrrgh!!!
