Thank you

I am so very sorry for the sudden and tragic loss of your mom. I know how much it hurts!
I also lost my father due to ineptitude of the ER staff (IMO) and it really heavily sits with me that I should have done something.
With the state of the medical system, we need to be our own advocates. Although even then sometimes the worst happens.
Sending my deepest, sincerest condolences to you and yours. I hope you find peace knowing that you were with her and loved and cared for her

I go over in my mind constantly about what I could have done differently to change what happened. She was well enough the 1st visit to be her own responsible party. Sadly, not the case thereafter.

You couldn't do anything differently. The policies they have in place made it impossible. Insisting to go in would have just ended in you removed by security and that wouldn't have helped anyone.

@Luvallgems . Sorry to hear this news. :(sadBIG hugs to you and your family.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for posting this as my Dad is going to have surgery on an aneurysm located right next to his mechanical heart valve. I’m worried, but I try not to show it. I’ll be praying for your family.

I hope your dad’s surgery goes smoothly @The Heart of the Ocean.

I’m so very sorry. Hopefully, your courage in sharing your experience will save another life.....sending hugs and prayers to you and your family.

Thank you. A person can have normal vitals and blood work.
There are certain markers you look for early on with a person
with sudden weakness and confusion. Ask for check of lactic acid level ( good indicator of sepsis.)

I'm so so sorry that this happened to you, your family and your mom.

Thank you. Her birthday was on 12/15. Would have been 81.

I am sorry for your loss and I’m wishing peace and comfort for you. So sorry.

Missy, I know your parents are in their 80’s, please stress to them to watch each other for subtle signs of sepsis. It’s heartbreaking to watch a fully functioning parent succumb suddenly to this insidious disease. Thinking of you and Greg during the Holidays.

Thank you. It is so kind of you to think of others at a time like this. Greg and I are keeping you in our thoughts as well and I am sending gentle hugs and love your way. I know there is nothing I can say to ease your pain but you remain in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this very important information with us.

On no.. I am so sorry luvallgems, so sorry, my mom died of lung cancer 21 years ago and it still feels like yesterday. Your mom sounds like she had a massive infection, massive in her lung and then moved to her heart and then sepsis.. I feel the first hospital seriously dropped the ball... you have joined this club I hate - missing our moms.. I'm here any old time and you are right, pay attention to anything that seems out of the ordinary with the people that we love. Again my most sincere condolences and sending my heart to yours. Kate

I'm so sorry. I lost my father this year too. Sometimes there's nothing that can be done but it is still really traumatizing.

Partgypsy, I am so sorry for your loss, our Dads, we love them.. And you are so right, terribly traumatizing.. one moves on I suppose but never over the loss of our dads and/or moms.. not a club I ever wanted to join. sending Kate hugs to you.

I’m so very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. This post hits home for me in many ways. Thank you for this information. HUGS

@Luvallgems, I’m SO SO sorry this happened. I know all too well how it is to lose someone you love in the most unexpected and tragic way.
Yet despite your overwhelming grief, you thought of others and how your mom’s story may save other lives. This act of generosity and courage is beyond appreciated and admired. THANK YOU.
Wishing you peace in the days ahead.

I appreciate that @maita13: The scary part of sepsis is not all people have obvious symptoms of a overwhelming infection. You and yours have a blessed holiday season.

Thank you @Bayek...My sister and myself are spreading the word about how that confusion and weakness that come on suddenly must be throughly investigated. Why they didn’t perform a chest X-ray will haunt me for a long time. She was more or less swept out the door because she was lucid enough to state she wanted to go home.
BTW your new home is gorgeous. All the best.
