Hi All,

I''m torn between a fancy shape such as a jubliee or a modern cushion and a RB. It''s all of the typical arguments pro and con - I love that those fancies are different from what everyone else has, and their outlines are more visually appealing to me. But, RB''s are easier to come by in specific specs, higher in light return, more classic, may appear larger due to depth, etc.

Now I''m thinking maybe I can find the perfect setting that will make a RB appear squareish or cushion-y. I am attaching examples of pics I''ve come across, but if anyone has any more images to add I would love to see them!

Thanks.

One example, although I don''t really love the super exaggerated fishtail settings, they have the overall effect I''m looking for...

A totally different kind...

Pretty! That''s exactly what I was talking about...

Thanks

It takes a bit of imagination to turn this around and visualize a round stone in the square-ish illusion setting. Not really basic though - plain to see.

How does "square radiant" sound ? Without more branding than an Ideal Scope image, it may end up as large as you wish, given that no-name fancies are not as expensive as the ideal rounds you consider. Just a thought...

I LOVE that Daniel K setting!!!!!!

I would consider a square radiant, but seems like finding a great one would be a big endeavor. I guess the whole process of having vendors look for and then call in stones that may or may not end up being keepers is something that''s still deterring me from starting a search for a fancy shape...

thanks!

Do you want it really square looking or just sorta square? A simple 4 prong setting can still make it look square without hiding the actual diamond too much.

I tried this one on - it was aSTUNNER! By www.greggruth.com

I believe mine makes my RB look more "cushion-y"

It is a Michael B. three-sided pave..his prongs are awesome for this!

i think that a tulip setting also makes a round look square-ish. i don''t know how to post pics but i do know that there is a pic in the show me the ring - the title is ''custom tulip set'' and it was started by pez.
the tulip setting is my favorite

I am posting a photo of mine even though it is not a RB. It is a regent but I am mainly posting it so you can see the setting, which I think would achieve what you want to do. It too is a Michael B setting but I assume other designers/ settings can do a similar thing. I had considered going with a rb with these prongs when I first started ring shopping. I think it would look nice.

Love these, thanks so much everyone! I just keep going back and forth!

LOL Katrina. If you do a search, a while back I posted the same thread when I was going back and forth! LOL.... Go with your gutt!

Looks pretty square to me ;) Although this is 1.5 cts - a smaller diamond would probably be disguised even better, any larger, and the receipe may not hold as well, I would think.
