Hi everyone...
So Leon is currently in the process of making my e-ring. The stone is a 2.68 ct RB and the setting will be a twisted split shank solitaire in pave - each ''half'' of the shank will be about 2 mm but will taper a bit.
I thought that I was a definite size 5.5, but lately I''ve begun to doubt myself. I actually bought a cz ring in a 5.5 (a three stone) just to ''test'' the size. When my hands are cold the ring is a little loose but does not risk falling off at all, but when my hands are swollen the ring is a bit tight (although I can still get it off and on with relative ease). I know that a 6 would be too big, so what I''m really debating is whether I should go for a 5.75 or a 5.5? I''ve tried a 5.5 ring sizer on several times and have been told by several jewelers that it seems *right*, but I have not tried on a 5.75. I''ll try to do that today.
My questions are:
1) given my stone and the solitaire design is it better to err on the side of tighter in order to keep the ring from spinning?
2) do you think that I would find a 5.5 way too tight in the summer when it''s warmer and my fingers are a bit larger? (it''s -30 C. here now!)
3) how much difference will wearing a wedding band with the ring make? I''ve heard that this makes it fit tighter?
4) is it easier to size a pave ring up or down? Should I err on the side of bigger or smaller?
I also plan to have children within the next couple of years and am worried about what my hands / fingers will do then, but I figure I need to get it right for the size of my finger *now* rather than peering into a crystal ball!
Any feedback would be most appreciated - I''m making myself crazy trying to figure this out!! Thanks!
