Which should I choose?

AGS cert. F/VS2/1.011 ct
Cut Grade 0 Ideal (Triple 0)
6.50-6.53 mm x 3.90 mm
Table 57%
Depth 59.8%
Crown angle 34.0 degrees
Pavilion angle 40.4 degrees
pointed culet
no inclusions under the table
girdle faceted 0.9-1.7%
No fluorescence
$7635

or

GIA cert. F/VS2/1.07 ct
6.64-6.69 mm x 4.02 mm
table 58%
depth 60.3%
sym./po. VG/Exc
girdle thin to s. thick
No fluorescence
$7319

Is the difference in cut quality worth $700 per carat difference?

<10% to go from "poor" to "v. good" or "excellent" in symmettry in this quality makes pretty good sense to me. Buy the better cut stone. Something is seriously wrong with the symmetry to get "poor".

Dave, it took me a while; but, I think he meant sym/po vg/ex to be symetry/polish Vg/ex. Both stones look pretty nice though.

po. does stand for polish, sorry about that.

It's a little tough to tell, because the GIA doesn't list crown height - pavilion depth / angles. These are key for helping determine cut quality.

Very close call, but I would tend to lean towards the AGS stone. That triple 000 cut grade is a coveted rating, and it's not all that much more money.

Does anyone have that DiamondCalc program? I would be interested in seeing how the AGS diamond performs in that program.

I'm really thinking the AGS stone is the way to go. Will my future fiance be able to tell the difference between the two? I don't know.

And without the specs on the 2nd neither do we. :cheeky:

Any final words of wisdom or input?
