Please help me with the specs for this halo!

Hi ladies! I have been lurking for a while and this is my first post - I am hoping to get your help. I love all your rings and everyone seems so knowledgeable! My boyfriend and I have talked about getting engaged soon, however I want to be completely surprised by the engagement (but not by the ring!!). I don't want to go with him to design it, know when it's being designed, etc., but I do want it to look like my dream ring (pics attached). Any direction you could give me to describe the ring to him (and he will describe to a jeweler) would be so helpful. Does anyone have a guess for carat size, if single/full melee, is the base the "donut" setting, or the ratio (it looks a little rectangular to me which I like)? Thank you so much in advance!

I think your best bet is to choose someone who is known for making high quality rings like that...Victor Canera, Steven Kirsch, Leon. Mege. Your bf should show them the pictures and explain any differences such as diamond size, pave on the top of the shank, etc. and ask for quotes.

I would strongly recommend not having three sided pave on the shank (band) because you won't be able to wear a wedding band with it if you do. Just keep the diamonds on the top surface of the shank.

It's definitely 3+, unless her fingers are TINY, because I know what a 2 ct cushion looks like on my hand (size 4.5) and it is not that big. Even with a halo. But I have a couple of 3 ct fakies and it could be that size... or bigger depending on the ring size of the person in the pic.

Mine is a 1.87 ct AVC (August Vintage Cushion, from Good old Gold) with a 1mm halo, and my ring size is 4.25.


If the fingers in the picture are the same size as mine... that stone looks bigger than mine... so I'm guessing 2.5-3 ct with a 1.5-2mm halo. And it definitely looks like a slightly elongated (rectangular) cushion.

I can't tell about the other details. I can't see the donut or tell if its single or full melee, but I think full is most common.
Maybe you should just email your BF those pictures and let him run with it?? He can show the jeweler and go from there.

1 mm halo is 1/2 pointers. 1.5mm halo is about a 1 pointer halo.

Not for sure. But it does have double sided pave. I would estimate about 1 pointers.
