Have you actually seen these diamonds? If not, ask if you can get photographs and an ASET image for each, as unfortunately we can't tell much by the numbers. Info on ASET here

Ditto. We need pics.

HI:

Are the measurements on the ifrst one correct?

cheers--Sharon

For me, looking at the numbers, the second stone is the best, but it''s a lot more expensive. So, I would go with the first stone if it faces up white (some I''s do, some don''t). The third stone doesn''t look to be a dud with those numbers, but it wouldn''t be my first choice as my guess is the crown won''t be that high and thus the stone probably won''t have as much fire as I''d like to see. But, the others are right--images will really help to give you a better idea of the stone.

okay, here are the specs again with pics

BTW, i have trouble uploading image. is there a better way of doing it??
2ndly. most importantly.. i have a littl over 3 months left. should i just bite the bullet on ones of these?

sapient, I suspect the picture of the angara stone is actually a picture of a CZ.

I like the picture of the I color stone best. The G is also a very nice stone.

Now that there are photos I agree with JulieN!

well.. is it a good price for the 1st stone? i would like to just get it if ppl think prices are going to go up further and i can have ample time to work on getting the money,

tx

also. can angola post CZ stones as a real diamond? seems shady

It says "sample picture" on the website.

Internet pricing is very good. Also, GOG offers lots of extras, such as the videos and Helium scans.

when you say internet pricing is good, does it mean i should buy now or do more searching for about a month or so. i've been looking at stones and everyone is different and i just don't know how to compare. it's a huge leap of faith just to say hey i'll buy this one.. so not having been in the diamond fields as many of you have.. is this a good deal? decent deal? or wait for something similar down the line??

why do you want to do more searching? do these ones not fit your requirements?

it''s still 3 months off. i think it''s just an major uncertainly, for me at least, with where price will go till then. having not have invested much time research until 2 weeks ago, it''s hard for a "noob" such as myself to know whether if it''s a good deal or if better ones can be found later on. i know it''s a loaded question as to when and what stone to buy. but i''m really hoping for the market watchers to chime in and say.. hey stupid, this is it.. go for it.

The market isn''t going anywhere. You''re looking to buy now to maybe the next month. Things don''t change that fast.

These are diamonds off a list, and are not in-house, but will be called in at your request.

from a female perspective, would you girls take a 1.0 round or 1.2 princess?

they both look like fine diamonds with plenty of spark.. round will obviously be a little brighter due to the cut.

I would always take a round if the cut was good.

What does she prefer? I''m not a fan of princess cuts, so I''d want the round. However, she might love princess cuts-if so, that''s what you should get her! If she has no preference, I''d probably go for an AGS 0 round-it''s going to perform better than a princess.

I personally don''t care for rounds, and would probably prefer any other cut above it. But I am in the *small* minority. Shape is usually something people feel strongest about (above clarity, color, size, etc) so I would make sure you get a good idea from your SO!

Hi:

All things being equal, I''ll vote round. But ireally, is a matter of personal preference; i.e your intended''s Has your GF tried on many different rings with different stone shapes

cheers--Sharon

HI:

Oh goodness, no need to feel bad (my note was not meant to induce that!

)...is this engagement a complete surrpise to her? Have you never tried on rings together?

cheers--Sharon

it's a difficult process so far. my gf doesn't wear much jewelry aside from ear rings or maybe occasional necklace. she has zero rings... we've never stepped in to a jewelry shop together.. nor have we had any conversation as to diamond shapes. i just don't know how to bring it up without ruining the surprise... oh that and how to pick out a great diamond for her

so, i'm not sure what she likes in terms of the cut.. until up to recently i didn't know the cut was such a polarizing subject.

you''ve gotta understand that most peeps here are HUGE round cut owners/fans. i, myself, have a gorgeous princess and am not as fond of rounds. if your girlfriend is a little different, then a princess may be the way to go. if you like the princess cut GO FOR IT! i love the crisp modernism of princesses. but of course, someone did have a good idea and that is see if you can somehow determine your girlfriend''s preference for shapes. long live the princess!

It all comes down to personal preference. I knew 100% that I wanted a square stone for my ring. Round diamonds are beautiful too (and their cut/proportions are a much more exact science, so they''re easier to choose), but they weren''t what I wanted. If you can get one of her female friends to go shopping with her and feel her out a bit, that might be best.

As for your stones, I''d go with the I princess because that''s exactly what I chose! I think going down to I color is a great way to save some cash. It''s an AGS ideal cut stone, which means it will look white from the top in most lightings. The little bit of body color I see in some light doesn''t bother me one bit. 1.2ct is also a very nice size for princesses...I have 1.0 and sometimes wish I would have gone just a tad bigger to make it comparable to a 1.0ct round.

Here''s the info on my ring in case you''re interested.

I have a feeling she will love what you choose for her. She doesnt seem like a jewellery fanatic who has to have a certain shape or the world will end!!!!

I think there is beauty in both round and princess. I have both and pretty much wear the one thats bigger which is the princess. If I were you I would just buy the one that seems better value for the $!!!! Im thinking princess is cheaper all things being equal.

Also, if you dont listen to anything else, you must follow this....buy an ultrasonic. By keeping the diamond at its absolute cleanest, you will have a sparkling diamond that performs at its best. Most diamonds are worn dirty, so by wearing a clean one, it will even out perform a better cut that is dirty imo!!!!!

in my stumbling around today i''ve found the princess of hearts shape. i found it going over some GOG video and through it looked pretty good. so another twist/option. so are they like princess in price but all the sparkle in a round?? maybe??? is there a side by side comparison in round, princess and princess of heart??

Go with the PoH if you love square shapes, on GOG they do a side-by-side comparion in the videos next to rounds an princesses, it really does match rounds for optics, something that pricesses really can't do.

As for price, I think they are more $$ because it is a patented cut. But remember that rounds tend to look bigger than a princess of similar ct. weight, so the $$ diff between rounds and princesses tends to disappear in the wash (i.e., a 1.20 ct princess costs about the same as a 1.0ct round, but they face up similar sizes.) Some argue this point though.

Why don't you call Jon at GOG? They have a trade-up policy so even if you got the stone now and loved something more in a few months you can trade it in (but I think you have to spend $500 more)

i actually have a side by side of a princess with a round about the same caret and the princess looks bigger to me.. i think i''ve posted a thread before in regards to these 2 cuts. i tend to like the princess better but it just seems like everyone else like the round..

Rounds have better optics, that is why the PS diamondoholics tend to love them. And until AGS ideal grading there wasn't a good way to judge princesses online, which may have contributed. But lots of folks on here have them and love them. If you like a princess, then get one, but you'll just have to accept that you won't get the universal diamondaholic stamp of approval

Who cares though??

done. i think i got all the push i needed. i ended up buying the 1.21 I.. aka princess 1. will post pics once i get the stone.

now i just have sleep on it for 3 months without the gf finding out.. lol
