Well, I've tried on a whole bunch of vintage bands -- bought some, returned some, sold some -- and I still haven't found "the one" that looks just right. I am home in LA for Thanksgiving and have gone to both Craig Evan Small and Platt Boutique Jewelry (first time there and they have lovely pieces!) in search of "the one."

Here are 5 vintage bands pictured with my OEC -- please tell me which you like best. Conversely, if you think none of them are right, let me know that as well. For some reason, finding a band always proves to be very difficult for me and I would be curious to hear what others think.

First up...Band One!

Band 2 (I have two pics of this one):

Band 4

Band 5

I like the first and the last the best.

My favorites are numbers 3 and 4

Nice choices! For matchy- I prefer #4; for contrast and appreciation of engraving/detail work #5; for uniqueness #1.

What are you hoping to achieve with the band? Matching, contrast or unique? They all look beautiful with your stone, so it is a tough choice. Are there others you currently have that you'd be rotating thru as well?

If I was at the cash register and just HAD TO PICK only 1, right *NOW*, then my pick would be #5.

4!

I am not really that into matchy-matchy, but I want the band to really compliment my OEC. I don't care so much about unique, but I do want the band to look distinctly vintage. I have a modern pave band that looks somewhat similar to band 4, but it just doesn't look right with my OEC.

I'll give a few details about each band.

Band 1 is made up of carre cuts. I'm probably least inclined to go with this one.
Band 2 is 75 points of box set single cuts. Price is by far the best on this band.
Band 3 is the most expensive because they are french cuts. I LOVE this band. It's a full size too big for me and way out of budget, but I love it!
Band 4 is 90 points of single cuts and quite pricey for what it is, I think.
Band 5 I actually own -- got it for a steal on Ebay and plan to keep it, but was curious if people think it looks right with my OEC.

Diamond band 4, but I really love 5.

HA!!! I Love #5!!! I think it is the perfect one, especially if you have a similar pave band already (although not the exact perfect one...)

For me, 5 suits the e ring best and lets the OEC stand out. It has plenty of engraved/carved interest to keep me satisfied!! :appl:

I love 1 and 5.

Given what you have just revealed, I would stick with 5 and start another project!! :saint:

:wavey:

I also vote for #5 - it just seems to flow with your ER... and so complementary without overwhelming or competing with your ER.

I know you said you don't like matchy, but number 4 is a perfect match and looks really good. I used to think that I didn't like matcy either, but then I realized that contrasting bands seemed to compete , distract or look too busy...maybe it's just me. Anyway, I finally got a matchy one and I love it! So I vote for 4.

I love number 5! Even better that you already own it, right?! None of the others looked quite right to me.

I like 4 and 5. I think they are the most pleasing because the width of the the bands seems most similar to that of your ER. The first 3 seem wider than your ER.

I like 4 or 5, but I honestly think #4 isn't that special. I think 5 compliments your oec best.

4 is my fave bec it appears to match width the best

For a diamond band, I love the carre cuts in #1 but am not sure I love it with your ring.

#2 is pretty but I do not love it with your ring.

#3 is also pretty but clearly too big in comparison to the e-ring so I don't see it working.

#4 is probably the closest to looking right style-wise with your e-ring, BUT I think you can find a better one than this one. I think it is just a little too thin.

#5 is great and I am glad you are keeping it! It gives you a band to wear until you find a perfect diamond band.

(It is much easier for me to tell someone else to keep looking than it is for me to tell myself that! )

I like #5 the most, then #4-- if it's a little wider. The carres look a little too big, and #2 & #3 takes away from the ering.

I like #5 the best with #4 being a close 2nd. #3 is pretty too but looks much too big on your finger. I don't like the look of #1 with your ring, although its a gorgeous band. And #2 is just ok, maybe a little too wide next to your e-ring though.

i lov #2 and #5

3 and 5. If I was pressed, 5 looks the best with your ring IMHO.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies!! I'm actually rather surprised to see that the plain engraved band is so popular. I'll be honest and say that I've been leaning towards number 2. I saw it when I picked out my mounting in August and came back to it again this time. I'm still unsure, though. The price is very good, but that's not a good reason to buy it, I know. I'm going to post another pic of band 2 from a distance in case that gives better perspective on how it looks with my OEC -- sometimes I think super close-up shots don't give a good sense of how it looks in normal viewing.

I've also wondered if maybe my ring looks better on its own??

I'm not fond of this look. I found that I have the same issues with my oec, and bands wider than the solitaire just don't look balanced. Do you have a distant shot with the engraved band?

I'll take one tomorrow. I just posted one, but it looks terrible and come out sideways.

I really liked your ring paired with my band when we met, so I think if you can find the right band then a pair/set will look better than the e-ring solo :)) Finding that perfect band. There is the rub. I don't think any of these are "the one", I'm sorry to say.

I wish I could just narrow down what it is exactly I'm looking for! I should probably drag myself downtown to Single Stone since they have such a huge collection of bands, but it's such a pain to get there.

Here is a picture of my ring with my mom's band. Obviously it's not an option for me, but I'm wondering if people find the width and style pleasing?

ETA: Ack, I'm having major technical problems as it keeps reposting the wrong pic. I'll try again in a new post.

I like it with your mom's band the most.
