Hello! I had initially started this thread to discuss diamond specs: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/new-and-quite-confused-any-assistance-would-be-appreciated.216289/page-2 . Since I'm pretty much set on purchasing a lab diamond, I figured I'd continue this conversation here!

This past week, I've had the opportunity to try on settings and look at diamonds at various places, including Brilliant Earth in San Francisco.

In terms of what I want in a diamond, my favorite diamond so far has been one with lots of sparkle, including lots of large, soft, colorful flashes. Having seen mostly IGI diamonds (since GIA doesn't grade labs), I'm shooting for J but am okay with going as low as K. My diamond budget is around $3000-3500.

In terms of setting, I am leaning towards this: http://www.brilliantearth.com/Lotus-Flower-Diamond-Ring-%281/3-ct.-tw.%29-White-Gold-BE1BD12R2-1152417/ , but am considering a solitaire as well. If I get the halo, I have to purchase the diamond through Brilliant Earth.

My initial diamond search consisted mostly of 60/60 cuts. After doing another search, I've narrowed it down to the following, which more or less fall into the table, depth, crown, and pavilion measurements recommended by the forums:

1) http://www.brilliantearth.com/lab-diamonds-search/view_detail/1564594/

2) http://www.brilliantearth.com/lab-diamonds-search/view_detail/1569684/

3) https://www.1215engagement.com/round-cut-diamond-1-10-carat-k-color-vs2-clarity-ideal-cut-igi-10223419.html

4) https://www.1215engagement.com/round-cut-diamond-1-12-carat-k-color-vvs2-clarity-ideal-cut-igi-10155520.html

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!

Hi!

Thanks for your reply! I've actually had that D.NEA diamond on my radar as well. My question is how does it compare to the other diamonds form my original post? This diamond is probably the highest price compared to the other ones, but I'm willing to go that high if I get a well-cut diamond with lots of sparkle. Thank you again!

Eric from D.NEA can also provide imagining for some stones (ideal scope / ASET) on request - BE wont, I've checked previously.

Thank you for the info! I've gone ahead and sent e-mails to D.NEA and 1215 Engagement to see how much info they can give me on the diamonds and whether they have idealscope/ASET images! Hoping for the best!

Here's a longshot question: Are there any lab diamond vendors that sell vintage cut diamonds (i.e. AVR and OEC rounds)? I have to ask!

Nope, not as far as I've seen. You could ask if they could cut one for you, but I imagine it would be a fairly pricey endeavour- might be best going vintage if that's what you have your heart set on. But, always worth asking the question! Let us know how you go!

I don't believe so, however, a true antique stone might be something to consider, as depending on your standpoint, a second hand "reused" diamond may be considered more ethical than a new lab diamond. Something to think about.

Interested to see what the d.NEA stone looks like ! :wavey:
