Newbie searching for the ultimate diamond.... thanks to all the knowledge I have gained from PS.

Here is my search criteria... please offer your opinion and I really do appreciate any help or suggestions.

Budget: Diamond 23K
CUT: RB GIA (ex,ex,ex) or AGS ideal 0
Carat: 2.25+
Color: H/I or above ( I haven’t seen an I in person only H and J(on a 2.5c) and the J looked yellow. Is color more pronounced in a larger stone? I think it would be, but??)
Clarity:SI1 or above needs to be eyeclean

I have done some searching on GOG, JA, and WF. Also looked at the PS price stats and I should be able to get a H/VS2 for $9106/carat. So I think my expectations are within reason.

Here are a few stones that I found (please suggest another or let me know what you think).

WF:

GOG:

JA:

Thanks for all your help!!

Before you spend $23K, go look at some stones in person to be sure you're okay with an I color. You'll get better prices online, but you gotta see, first hand what an I looks like so B&M window-shopping is a must. Bigger stones show more body color, but a well-cut one will still look bright when looking at it from the top!

Thanks for the responses(Queen Mum and MC). I will go by the B&M and inspect a I color stone withing my carat weight. I just stumbled upon BG diamonds and he has some amazing looking stones.

Thanks

Surf, One thing that really helped me with color was to go see a master set at an appraiser's ofice. That way all the stones are the same, and they're lined up together; it was a good way for me to find out what my color tolerances were.

Great advice!

When I got my appraisal done, the appraiser showed me the master set. He them mixed them up and told me to put them in order for D-M.
It was a great exercise. I learned I was very color sensitive.

master set is CZ no?
So, if viewed face-up, it won't show the reality of diamond because of the different light performance.
I compared 2 L color diamonds recently, one was VG cut the other was AGS Ideal.
The VG cut looked like 2 colors lower...
I think it makes no sense to look at diamonds with a pavilion side view...

ITA, Stephan.
I guess a CZ master set would tell you your tolerances given well-cut diamonds of a certain size with a certain "type" of proportions - obviously a stone w/ 58depth is going to look less tinted face-up than a well-cut diamond w/ a 64% depth, and a stone w/ shallower c/p will look less tinted face-up than one verging on steep/deep..
and since diamond colour is graded as if a chip of stone is taken a large L would look much more tinted than a small one regardless of 'make'..

Context is *everything*.
