I have been looking for the ''Perfect'' Stone and at some point need to stop looking (so I can start getting ready for my next purchase

)

I really appreciate the knowledge and advice on this website and may have to buy a stone unseen (due to distance in Australia), so would love it if anyone can point out some reasons why I should choose one stone over the other. They are very closely priced and both certified by the DCLA.

Stone 1:
1.10 F SI1
6.59-6.62mm
Depth: 61.7
Table: 56.8
Crown Angle: 35.1
Pavillion Angle: 40.7
Cutlet: 0.6

Proportion: Very Good
Finish: Excellent
HCA 1.4 Ex,Ex,Ex,VG

Stone 2
1.09 G VS2
6.6-6.62mm
Depth: 61.7
Table: 55
Crown Angle: 34.8
Pavillion Angle: 40.6
Cutlet:0.8

Proportion: Excellent
Finish: Excellent
HCA 0.8 Ex,Ex,Ex,VG

I know the VS2 will be safer from and eyeclean, mindclean point of view, but am not sure if I want to go down to a G????
At this point I cannot get an Idealscope image.

Any anyone offer any experience/suggestions on these?

i dont think you need to worry about going down to G colour... there isnt much differance between F and G when you look at them upside down on whitecard in lab conditions...

everyday set in a ring... unless your REALLY colour sensitive, i shouldnt worry.

there is a thought, that when the pavilion angle goes over 41° then the diamond starts showing more body colour, BUT the diamond you are looking at is 40.6° so well away from that having any effect.

I think - both stones sound like they have good basic proportions which give good indicators of having good light return...
might be worth asking if you can get a Sarin report, to give all the info, tho they may not have such a facility.

personally i''d go with the G VS... others may go the other way

I would also pick the G VS, I doubt you would see any difference between these colour grades, unless it is a mindclean thing for you in wanting an F. Also if you wanted to pursue the F SI, check carefully with the vendor that it is eyeclean. These both look like good diamonds.

They are probably both great, but since you can''t get an IS, I''d opt for the G. Also, that''s at the top of the near colorless range, I think you would be just fine with it. I have a 1.4 G, with a deeper PA to boot, and I don''t see anything, ''cept sparkles.

Lord Summerisle, Lorelei and Ellen

Thank you for your comments. I was leaning towards the G (although you hit the nail on the head again Lorelei - its that mindclean issue, but to a lesser degree than previous posts) and its great to see that its the general concensus.

Lord Summerisle - thanks for letting me know about the pavillion angle over 41deg, will keep that in mind for future.

Ellen, here''s hoping that all I see is ''sparkles. I am now going to hand all this information over to my other SO (he has been involved in the search, to a lesser degree) and hope that he knows what to do with it....... Before I change my mind again!
