I have been using the forum as a great resource to research on diamond rings.
I just got this 0.7 IF H princess cut diamond ring from JA. It looks great on the website (https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.71-carat-h-color-if-clarity-sku-8573417). The GIA report has "cloud" listed but I didn't really see any cloudiness in the video.

When I opened the box I wasn't too impressed. It doesn't "sparkle" as much as I thought. I understand pictures and photos are very different from what you see in real life. I am not sure if it's because of the cloudiness, or the four chevrons - I have heard that for princess diamond under 1 carat, fewer chevrons and larger facets would have better light performance. Or maybe it's what princess cut diamond supposed to look like.

What do you think of this diamond? cert.jpegAny advice would be really appreciated!

hi! Do you have a picture showing the stone from the top?

Thanks for the reply! And yes, hope this one will do.

Have you cleaned the stone lately? Make sure it is completely clean. Warm water, dish soap, and child's toothbrush.

It does not look cloudy (from the actual cloud inclusion). The cut is what creates the sparkle. It does have a few slightly mushy areas
but not too bad IMO. Did you get an aset image for it by any chance? Have you looked at it in different lighting conditions?

I think I would start over and go with fewer chevrons. Smaller table if possible.

Hmmmm - it‘s hard to tell. But I think I see what you mean. Well, I‘d suggest to clean it first. It might change.

Thank you for the helpful reply!
I just got the ring in the mail yesterday but I will try to clean it again. Unfortunately JA doesn't have ASET image for this diamond. It looks much more sparkly under LED light (the growth light of my aerogarden seems to make diamonds really shine).

I guess I will start over again as you suggested. Thanks again for the valuable advice!

Here is a good princess, in term of brightness and leakagr, for reference.

Do you have the same color and clarity as the OP? I have a RB that was bought 6 years ago from BN that is more expensive than now as well, about $1-1.5k Less now.

Photos are not going to help - you need an appraiser to make this judgement. But there is a fair chance it will be slightly dull
