So, I am wanting to upgrade slightly my oval diamond which is a .78 D SI1 and thr dimensions are 7.54x5.01. I purchased it from Lumera diamonds and would like to upgrade through them since they will credit me what I originally paid for the diamond. They do not offer photos or videos. I have been searching through other vendors to get the photos and videos. I have recently ordered 2 ovals and now returned both. I was told they both had minimal bowtie but both had prominent bowties. I am just so frustrated and have had to pay for shipping back both the returned diamonds. I have found one other oval that looks nice and I have a video it just won't upload due to the format. I attached the photo. I just don't want to have to return anymore and am hoping the next one is the one. 34194 (1).jpg

Good ovals with minimal bow-tie are hard to find, unfortunately! You are doing the right thing by searching for stones with photos and videos elsewhere :)

Have you seen the August Vintage Inc. Opulence Ovals? They are pretty much the best in terms of light performance and zero bow-tie - perhaps Lumera would be willing to get one in for you on a Cost+Fixed Fee basis? You may pay a little more because of the 'finders fee' but it would save everyone involved time and hassle :)

If you are happy to post your budget and desired/required colour/clarity/carat size/spread, we can help find you options worth considering. Drop @Rhino a line at AV Inc also!

Yes if you could post options for me and I can see if they are available through Lumera I would appreciate it. I am looking for an eyeclean up to SI1, color D-F, bigger in terms of length to width than my current. 78 that is 7.54x5.01. I have to spend 20% more then my original in order to upgrade so my budget is $2700-$3200.

The stone is strongly lit from behind in these videos so this is not close to what the stones look like.

I understand that you must buy from this seller, using a certain upgrade policy. Will they provide any other kind of pictures? ASET? (although not straightforward to read for ovals)

One idea:

.9cts F / VS (Sb) - Link The picture is very... colourful, for wahtever reason. Yet GIA says 'F', so this is colourless.

There must be more interesting options around, sure enough.

ctd.

This is deeper cut & sallr but perfectly without bow-tie - E / VS

Longer & larger - H / VVS

This is my choice - D / VS

@tyty333 can you help with my search? I know you are an expert with ovals!

I've tried to upload the video of the oval in question. It is a .90 E VS2. Thoughts? I will take more recommendations as well.

Can you anyone assist with thoughts on this video?

That's interesting - it looks like they've cut the main facets across the length of the stone rather than the width of the stone, which you don't normally see! It would seem to remove the classic 'bow tie' to some extent :)

It's hard to tell without being able to drag the video back and forth but it looks to be good (i.e. have little) in terms of bow-tie, and the facet patterns seem quite well defined without too much 'mush' / 'crushed ice' (for want of a better description). Pretty good overall to my eyes, nice find!

The rotating diamond is dizying... I might think that the oval it is deeper cut, perhaps similar to one I picked too (so, nice!) - much that I can tell.

E /VS are impecable sure enough, & a good idea in tis size IHMO.

Thanks for your thoughts! Of course, this diamond just sold! :cry2:

It is a good idea to place any stones you are interested on 'hold' before you post them here - lurkers snatch them up!
