Kelpie, thanks for following my jewelry board!
I have to see this!!

Hmm, I don't know if I can share my username for over there, but Kelpie is easy to find. :cheeky: Also, I have the ring in my avatar on my board. <-----

I'm a pinterest addict. :naughty:

Can you help me to understand how this works? I posted this as well, in Kenny's thread regarding his FCD pics being 'pinned'. I've been told by others that some pics of my ring is pinned. How do you view that? I don't understand how this site works, so any explanation is welcome!
:))

Enerchi, I promise I'm not trying to be unhelpful, but the Pinterest "getting started" page will be a better explanation than I could type. :))

Happy to answer any follow-up questions!

It's rather hard to find a specific image, but two ways to approach it: you can search by source (http://pinterest.com/source/pricescope.com/) or you can search by keyword (http://pinterest.com/search/?q=princess+three-stone).

For some reason today I'm having trouble with Pinterest "getting more" once you scroll to the bottom of the page, but usually it will continuously upload new images that meet the search criteria.

Thanks sillyberry - I clicked around and couldn't find my ring pinned. It looks interesting... I've requested an invite!

I've had a pinterest account for a while now. I get emails a few times a week telling me someone else is "following" my interests. I think I have only ever pinned like two things. I find it a little annoying.

For bookmarking, I prefer Pearltrees. It lets me arrange the bookmarks in a way that is easier for me. Some times at night when I cant sleep I go to stumbleupon and then pearl the things I like. It also puts a pearler on my search bar so its easy for me to pearl things I like.

I think you can turn off the alert e-mails within your settings.

I loved pintrest when I was wedding planning. I use it much less post-wedding but I am starting to collect decor pictures and ideas for when we get a house and I've been pinning and trying lots of yum recipes too.

Hi Sillyberry - I have my invite but it says I have to link to FB. Do I? I rarely use my FB -and if I activate pinterest, does everything I look at show up on FB?? I'm SOOOO not tech savvy!! My kids could get to the end of the internet and back, provide you with a PPT show of all the features and invent a game while their at it, but not mom. Mom is a dinosaur!

Thanks Sillyberry, if you can advise me!

Not silly berry, but I am an avid user! Yes, you must sign up by linking your Facebook or twitter, but you can change settings so your name is different on Pinterest and so that none of your pins show up on Facebook. Just do what it tells you to set it up, then edit settings.

Thanks Rubybeth! I clicked and linked but used a different name than my FB and it also had the icon that "only me" sees when i click on something. Gee... 6 of my FB friends are already on pinterest!

I did not make a board or anything, I unfollowed people (I don't want a whack of new emails coming my way every day...) and now I guess I can just browse, right?? Any ideas if you just want to look at jewellry? Yes, I'm a simple, single focused person. Not very broad in my interests!! (well, I am, but that's all I want to look at immediately!)

Thanks for your help!

On the email issue: I only get emails when someone pins or likes one of my pins. You can set it up not to get emails (or only get emails once a day), but I think it's fun to know! To me Pinterest is the most fun when you can easily see what other people are pinning.

That said, if you're not interested in a range of boards (by which I mean follow all a friend's boards which may be recipes, fashion, travel, whatever), I think the most effective way for you to use pinterest is to follow boards that do meet your (sparkly) interests. For instance, if you search "diamonds" you'll come up with all sorts of boards that meet your interest. Some that don't, but most that do.

http://pinterest.com/search/boards/?q=diamonds

Click the "follow" button.

Then every time one of those new boards gets an image posted it will show up on your main page and you won't have to search.

Make sense?
