pinkish purplish red stone

Hello all!

Love reading all of the posts, such great and very knowledgeable community! I have a stone that I am unsure of it's identity. A few different diamond testers tested positive fore diamond. But I've never heard of a diamond this color. It looks like plastic to be honest... I'll upload some photos I tried to take. It loves to play hide and seek with the camera. No matter the light or the temperature of the room. It seems to look it's best in the dark. Very strange.

Probably a synthetic corundum (ruby). See if it fluoresces under black light.

I bought a stone a couple of months ago off Etsy that was sold to me as a lab sapphire and it looked just like this.

Thank you. Would a synthetic conundrum test positive on a diamond tester? It does react to a black light. It is a pinkish red. Also, does a synthetic corundum change colors with different temperatures?

Probably a synthetic corundum (ruby). See if it fluoresces under black light.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the stone? Was it certified? And does yours react to a black light or a diamond tester? (One that tests it's theme conductivity?)

Synthetic pink sapphire or synthetic ruby. It's probably has a bit too much colour change to pink to be a garnet, maybe a tourmaline, but a synthetic would be my best guess

It changes color in different lighting sources. I don't know about a diamond tester.

Hi, are you using a Presidum gem tester? The “no frills ones” from China aren’t reliable at all. Moissanite also tests as diamond but is a synthetic. Diamonds do come in pink purple colour but cost tens of thousands, even tiny tiny ones.

It was sold to me as an antique ring in a simple 10kt setting and I paid just under $200 for it. It wasn't certified and I didn't test it at all because I ended up returning it.
