hi hariette! i hate to admit that after looking at stones i found what i wanted was going to be pretty pricey and i just sort of forgot about it. i would not have worn them very often and i have to give it some more thought as to whether i want that kind of money in a little used item.

i was wanting some size and to set them in platinum. finding a pair of nice color and cut sapphires is a job and an expense. time will tell?

you, on the other hand, seem to be getting a good variety of nice looking studs. i enjoy seeing that happen. keep it up.

i feel bad that i didn''t go forward after all of you were nice enough to post your pretty pictures. thanks to all!

No worries, crown1. I'm happy to help. My sapphires are not of top quality, but they were inexpensive and a staple.

Here is the link to the settings at Cross Jewelers: Whisper Close settings. I think they only come in 14K, though. Whiteflash has platinum bezels, I believe.

Those bezels are fantastic. The bezel part is so thin and you can see the pavilion of the sapphires.

Yikes, no! I tried them on at Tiffany''s...$1800!!! That is why I want to have some made. I think I can do much better than that! Theirs are set in platinum, but I don''t think that is essential in earrings!

Zoiks, DS! $1800?! Hells, no! Yeah, unless you're going to be doing a lot of headbanging, platinum seems like overkill to me. I bet they were purty, though. What size were the sapphires?

ETA: I just looked on Tiffany, and they show the studs as being 0.7ctw. Wow, do I feel like we (well, DH) got a deal.

Yes, be very happy with the deal you got! My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw the price tag! I thought...how can this be???? They were little!!! I really, really want the Cross bezel settings, but I am having a little fun looking at sapphires at the moment. So I may do it the complicated way and buy stones one place and settings another.

Katie Holmes wears blue sapphire studs (with diamonds) and it made me fall in love with sapphire earrings so I went to Tiffany to look at theirs (so perfect!), but they are a bit over my budget for now.
