I am trying to figure out what is better...4 or 6 prong..i have a stone soon to be set however, I am not sure 100 about the number of prongs...as of now I am leaning towards a Mark Morrell...But most o the settings contain very large stones and mine is just a bit over a carat...ok thanks!

Mark Morrell does beautiful work, I am a huge fan of his!!

Regarding the prongs, it is a matter pf preference. Some choose 6 prong as they feel the diamond is more secure and that 6 prongs make the diamond look rounder. Others choose 4 as they prefer this look with a little less metal. You could discuss it with Mark and see what he advises according to which design you choose - how exciting!!

I think it also depends on the shape of the prongs and the overall shape of the setting. I was a little concerned about doing 6 prongs at first on mine, but it ended up making the stone look bigger, rather than smaller, imo. I don''t know what it is about the setting, but when you look at it it seems like the diamond actually goes all the way out to the edge of the prongs. The top of the prongs are very round -- I think claw prongs would not have had this effect.
