Hi all,

Thanks again for everyone''s help on this forum. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting, the ring is finally ready! For reference, https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/need-help-picking-a-diamond-asap.61628/.

I went with the 1.62 SuperbCert. RockDoc (rest in peace) was more than helpful, and his appraisal convinced me to go ahead and purchase the diamond. When I went to go pick the diamond up, I was amazed at how much it sparkled, and how clean and colorless it looked. I can''t wait to see the diamond set, and on my girlfriend''s finger! I went to Catherine Angiel directly after picking up the diamond, and was relieved that the setting I wanted looked as good, if not better, in person.

I had some questions. RockDoc was going to mail me all of the paperwork he had prepared after the diamond was actually set. Obviously, this will no longer happen. I feel like the appraisal has served its purpose, though, and the diamond and setting are already insured through Chubb without the papers, so the issue is moot, right? I do have numerous emails with pictures of most of what he would have sent me anyway. Also, I left the stone (against the recommendation of RockDoc) with the jeweler, who assured me not to worry about the diamond being swapped out or something similarly shady happening. What steps should I take to confirm this, just so I cover my bases? And is there anything I should be checking as far as the quality of the work?

I am really excited, and again, I would like to thank this forum and its members for the wealth of knowledge provided. There is no way I would have ended up with a diamond as nice had I done it without pricescope.

Hi dude,

Congrats on your ring!

I'm puzzled how you got the ring insured without the appraisal.

At any rate, I would try to get it, in case you ever need it, for whatever reason. I'm giving you a link on Rockdoc's passing, and there is a post by adamasgem (almost halfway down this page). Email him and he can help you.

I am sure that Rockdoc would have been the first person to tell you how important it is that you get the details to your insurer, to make sure you do get a payout that matches exactly to the specifics of your diamond. You should contact Marty Haske as he mentions in that thread that he is dealing with details if you can prove who you are, so I am sure he would be able to get you anything once you let him know this.

Hmm, thanks for the leads. I will definitely follow up. I obtained my insurance from Chubb through an agent that worked with RockDoc. I am blanking on the name, but I have my coverage, and the way I understood the policy, I will just get the coverage amount to replace my own ring. I may be incorrect on this point. RockDoc and the agent did speak, so it''s not like I am just making up some diamond ring in the insurance agent''s mind. In any case, that is how I obtained my policy.

I would still contact Marty Haske to get anything that has been prepared for you. However, maybe you can contact the insurance agent and see if they can give you a copy of the details Rockdoc had given them, if it was in writing or if it was over the phone etc.
