I know this answer really depends on her preference, but any input you can give me will definitely help me make my decision. Thanks.

Can you get pictures and an ASET and an Idealscope pic to post?

Yeah... our resident step cut experts are going to need more to go on than just those numbers, I think. Pics would be an excellent start.

Since Kenny's apparently not going to mention it 8) Have you by chance seen the Octavia, available from GOG? If not it's definitely something you should add to your list of things to check out - they have a handful in the size/colour/clarity range you're considering. Kenny owns incredible examples of both and did a couple of reviews for us here - you can find them in his threads.

A real step cut expert like Karl will want more info to make a decision. Personally I like the smaller one given the info provided. The depth provides better spread for the weight and I find 63% to be a real sweet spot for the table. In the ones I've seen 63% and smaller on down the line tables are an element in a spectacular performing asscher. A large table can make it look glassy though 65% isn't horrible. I bet the sub carat one cost less too.

I'm no expert on, well, anything... but... the stone I bought for my fiancee is very similar to your #2:

1.53, H, VS1, 63% table 68.5% depth

I'm very pleased with it, for what its worth.
