In my search for the perfect ring for me, I have read the posts here, gone to places like Tiffany and Cartier, and checked out online vendors. To get a better sense for the styles I would like best, and how they look on my hand, I wanted to check out some stores on Jewelry Row in Philly. Does anyone here have experience with certain stores? Any suggestions as to where to look, where NOT to look? I am in search of a bezel or semi-bezel to buy (or copy), but it''s really tough to find any in "maul" stores to see what types look best and how bands look along with them. If in fact I end up going with a "designer" ring at a store on Jewelry Row, are these prices negotiable? Many thanks!

There are many, many choices on Jeweler''s Row. I can''t think of any retailer I''d warn you away from, but you will find some better suited to your personality than others. It can be a fun time if you don''t let pressure get to you.

PRICE, nearly always negotiable if you are presentable, polite and willing to walk away. You may ned a degree in acting to pull it off, or you may be just plain good at it. Many of the guys will give you a very fair price right away, so you need to be aware of VALUE before pushing back too hard.

Happy shopping!

I was in the same situation as you. I first went to Robbin''s Diamonds and thought it was alright, but never sold on it. I was offers a HOF round for a crazy amount of money which actually is what got me to these forums. I ended up going with GOG mainly for several reasons but the kicker was that I was making a trip up to Long Island for other reasons and it was relatively convenient for me to go to their store. Back to philly. I had my diamond and started looking for settings, and of the three or four designers that I liked they all listed Robbins as the only vendor in philly(Vache, Precision Set, Verragio, and Ritani). That may not mean much, but something to keep in mind. Good luck in your search, and make sure you do your reading before spending too much time listening to sales pitches.
