Congratulations on reaching this stage! I had a never ending long tail but managed to get though my PhD eventually -- and a lot of my milestones were commemorated by jewelry as well! My written qualifying exam was so bad. The exam was over two days and after the disaster of day 2 I booked a trip to Cartagena leaving the next day. I bought a pair of emerald earrings there when I found out I passed and got over the shock.

I don't really have a point except solidarity. Best of the luck with the rest of your PhD! And let me know if you have any trouble with your regressions, I taught classes on them throughout my doctorate.

THANK YOU!! Yes to the solidarity. Funny enough I wanted to buy myself some Colombian emerald earrings for this occasion (and maybe finishing coursework) but didn’t. A friend of mine was in Cartagena when I completed the 60 credits and I asked him to be on the lookout for earrings. I still haven’t found my perfect pair though.
