Pendent? Earrings? What to do?

that plat bezel from WF is basically the same as the diamonds by the yard, it''s just a Tiffany brand name...for the thin bezel with the culet sticking out.

either of those diamonds would be great in a pendant. I have a .38 regent that looks more like a .30c round probably and it is great for everyday wear, a .40c round with a thin bezel would look very nice for a daily wear neck item IMO!

Is this bezel from WF the same as what you posted? What is 'diamonds by the yard'? What does it look like from the side and/or back?

Weeeeeeell. The one I posted is from Tiffany's. "Diamonds By The Yard" is kinda like a brand name of a style of necklace that originated there ... and had bezel set diamonds floating between sections of chain (in varying lengths 16, 18, 36) The bezel was just around the girdle of the stone leaving the culet exposed in the rear.

Whiteflash has made a couple versions of this necklace for Pricescope members ... one thread on this recently is ....

The Whiteflash single stone pendant you posted is very similar to the Tiffany version, and I think it would be AWESOME. You'd have to ask them for side view pix of theirs ... I'll look for side views of the Tiffany's for ya. Fun project. I want one too!

ETA: Signed Pieces, where I found the Tiffany pix, has sold that gold DBY pendant so the pix are gone!! Sorry!

Thanks. I've asked WF for extra pictures. I think I'll be able to make a decision after I see them.

Anys comments on the two WF diamonds I linked to? Should the fact that the GIA reports are over 15 months old be of concern?

So how go things? What a lucky girl your wife (congrats by the way!!!) is to get MORE diamonds!!!

Now, here''s my take. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my diamond earrings. I have three pairs, but on a daily basis I wear my 1.0tcw ones because they look best. I also wear my 3-stone pendant daily as I like to have a little bling around my neck. So, I guess what I''m trying to say is you can''t go wrong either way, but your wife may have a preference as to the size of her earrings. I do like my smaller pair, but I have to say I don''t wear them too often anymore. They were an amazing gift when I turned 16 and are therefore something I plan to pass on to my daughter (should I ever have one), but they just don''t suit me now. Pendants, on the other hand, always work. A smaller stone in a pendant is great for everyday wear. I would therefore go for the pendant. And I LOVE the WF one you posted--it''s gorgeous!

As for the stone itself, I would call WF and see if they suggest a particular stone. Brian has so many in stock that I bet he could find some perfect ones in your budget. Oh, and don''t forget to ask about the WF discount!

The bezel set pendants are nice, but one thing to keep in mind is that the setting price eats up a lot of your budget. If you did a 3 prong "floating" style pendant, you could probably buy a larger diamond. I just bought a .428 WF ACA diamond and had it put into the 3 prong pendant in WG and it is stunning. I had a smaller diamond bezel pendant before and although the new WF 3 prong pendant and the older smaller diamond with bezel are the same diameter, the difference is amazing--the new WF stone just sparkles its heart out. I''d spend my money on a slightly larger diamond and forget the bezel for now...but then again that''s just me.....Let us know what you decide.

Do you have pictures of your 3 prong pendant?

I see that you haven''t decided which choice to go with, earrings or pendant, but it seems that a pendant may be what you are leaning to. I have to speak up about the bezel pendant from WF. I bought mine from them and had one of their ES .30 stones set in it. I love the diamond, it''s beautiful. And I hardly ever wear it because the setting is so thick (see the picture, imagine a small barrel) that it rolls when I wear it and when I see myself in a window, or check my make up in a mirror, or feel to see how it''s sitting, or what have you, the stone is never facing up. Never. It has always rolled to be face down. So what''s the point? The setting is thicker from top to bottom than the diamond is from side to side. I''d measure it for you, but I''m not wearing it : )

The chain is threaded through two holes that have been drilled through the solid bezel. I believe that what makes it "roll" is that the chain is close to centre and not at a 1 and 11 o clock position, but more at a 2:30 and 9:30 position. If that makes sense. Perhaps because it''s a small stone, they don''t have a lot of metal to work with, perhaps with a .50 stone being larger, that may change. If you do a pendant, I would definitely avoid the bezel, unless they can do it like the DBTY necklace, but I have also heard of those flipping.

At some point I will upgrade the stone and setting and choose the three prong fixed style pendant and get more wear out of the pendant.

My vote is for earrings. I wear my studs practically every day, I just find them very versatile.

I wish you well,

Bridget

Just love that! I say solitaire pendant...That way you can devote all of the $ to the stone!!!

If I choose a solitare pendant I''ve got several choices.

Three prong

Bezel or DBTY

My head is spinning. Help me pick between the different pendants.

Three prong, it''s beautiful, looks like the diamond is floating : )

I vote for three-prong. It''s lovely.

Both prettry but I'm a bezel gal...it helps make any stone look larger...which is always a good thing

Well, that and I like the clean look...even though I'll take a diamond no matter how it's set!

Hmm I say three prong (love that look) or a THIN bezel, not the big ole WF thick one.

Here''s my 3 stone pendant. I love the floating look.

Beautiful ! I think I"m in the minority here so maybe that's telling you something EP...Maybe she might rather have the prong set...

I am debating this exact question. I was leaning toward the bezel but now that I have seen the 3 prong (an option I had forgotten about!) I think that''s what I am going to go with myself.

And my stone is .38ct -- the same size you are looking at.

Does anyone have any side by side shots of remounts into either? Just curious...

Another picture of my 3 stone from a different angle.

This was the picture that inspired my pendant. I actually like the YG one which is unusual because I rarely wear it. I like the contrast how and how the diamond truly floats. I wound up getting WG in the end because it matches all my other jewelery and looks better on me in general. Still the YG one was tempting. I think I need 2 3-prong pendants.

MMM and I must think alike. I prefer a thin bezel as it seems to complete the look a little more (I don''t know how else to describe it). But, the 3-prong is also pretty!

I think I''ve decided against the full bezel....too bulky for me. I''d like to see what a thin bezel (DBTY) looks like from the side before I make a final decision.

I also got an e-mail from GOG saying they were getting a list of new Jubilees. If they get one in my price range I might go that route to match her e-ring. If that''s the case I''d probably have to get a four prong pendant.

Unless GOG can get me a suitable Jubilee I''ve decided on the three prong pendant. Now all I need to do is pick out a diamond in the $500 to $700 range.

Here''s the back of the Diamond by the Yards. The culet is completely exposed.

Oh MC...I do love that look...When I was in vegas, I drooled all over them at Tiffany...
although I decided against it...scritchity scratch! And there was a 2 ct lucida or whatever it's called bezel pendant there. I nearly wet my pants right there!

I think that a stone in the size you're looking for (which is a perfect size for a pendant) will not be bulky at all in a super thin bezel...and it will be pretty flat up against the chest....

But a three prong will sure be pretty too!

MMM - just when I think I''ve made up my mind you make a good point. Now I don''t know what to do. Aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

Leave it to me! I''m always in the minority but I keep kickin! LOL

My perspective is that #1 I want to max the size/look
#2 The super thin non-rounded bezel (i''m not a fan of fat, rounded bezels..I told my guy I didn''t want a round bezel...and he was like aren''t they all round? LOL) has some kind of modern, finished look to it
#3 This is a nice size stone but pretty ''flat''...so the top to culet isn''t that much... I wonder if the basket will be even bulkier?

Dunno...Just my 2 cents...What ever you pick will be FABULOUS!!!

p.s. Now watch, I get my pendant reset into a 3 prong!
