I am looking to buy a pear diamond for about 1k, based on my research it looks like I can get around .5 carat. A couple questions.

What's the most important property (color, clarity, cut, size) in buying a pear diamond? (second important etc)
Is .5 carat adequate size for a pendant?
I purchased a 1.7 RBC/VS1/J for the engagement ring, if i buy a better color for the pendant diamond will it be super noticable the difference in color when people are looking at my fiance?

Thanks,
Mark

cut is important but not "cut grade". You have to have a nice cut that doesnt have too bad a bowtie or a dead tip, but its not like rounds where you can say AGS 000 and know that its going to to be a good performer, takes a little more art than science.

Color, youll want to be on the safe side and probably say G or higher. pears show more color. A well cut one will be able to be lower, and there are some lower ones where the color actually flatters, but probably G or higher is the way to go.

Clarity on a pear pendent can go pretty low. Pears hide more inclusions, you wont be looking at it as closely as a ring, either. AND you arent as tough on it, so you could probably even go I1 with the right stone.

and no, no one will think a J and a G diamond dont look well together. plus they are very far apart on the body. dont be concerned about that

Excellent, just contacted him.

Thanks.
