Another new PSer, here!
I am new to requesting help with CADs, designs or expressing my vision for rings. I do find specific stones beautiful and have collected a few. One of the first I would like to set in a ring is a Jeff White pastel-blue Zircon. I know that people traditionally look for bright blues, or saturated green-blue, but I love the color (for me) on this one.

The question is, for a lightly worn RHR, can this be set as a ring? Should it automatically include some sort of bezeling or protective design, or can I use (double claw) prongs. I am currently thinking of something in the vein of Leon Mege’s classic 5 stone, with trapezoid and bullet side diamonds. My center stone is only 6.77mm of coverage on a 7.25/7.5 US ring finger. How can I increase coverage without going a halo route? Can larger trapezoid diamonds be used? Can someone help me with designs that may look better than what I am thinking, or what you would do with this stone in ring form? I’ve put out a few quotes on setting, but I want to narrow down a specific design vision and be encouraged that I am not headed in the wrong direction.

Center Stone: JL White Blue Zircon, 6.77mm x 6.77mm Asscher

It can definitely be set as a ring. I've had two of them set and they look awesome, the sparkle is so wonderful you really wish they were as tough as diamonds!

I love the design you've attached. I think the diamonds against the blue should provide plenty of bling. Plus your stone is so beautifully cut, that will help it pack a punch too. I recently bought a smaller sapphire and the setting wasn't overly big on my finger but the stone does it's job standing out even if it is small.

This is what I did with my blue zircon (inspired by @mochiko42's gorgeous one that she obtained first). I only wear it maybe once a week or fortnight. I was trying to cut costs so used smaller side diamonds.

I have found following settings on Pinterest:

The second one should be on PriceScope somewhere. I think it’s really unique.

Gorgeous zircon, and cut by Jeff White no less!! :love:

I'd do traps like @pandabee's zircon ring. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/meet-water-lily-my-art-deco-love.194065/

If your zircon is 6.7mm, you could add two 6x3.50mm traps which would make the finger coverage 6.77+(3.5x2)=13.77. Diameter of a size 7.25 finger is 17.45mm. If you want have full finger coverage you could add an extra trap on each side to make a 5 stone like this Léon Mege. http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/3-43ctw-emerald-cut-diamond-5-stone-ring-by-leon-mege-gia-f-si1

THANK YOU SO MUCH! :clap::clap:

The Leon 5-stone was my preferred setting, I just was not sure how to request the best diamond dimensions and specifics for finger coverage. I definitely wanted to do traps and Pandabee’s zircon is gorgeous. This gives me perfect dimensions and a better ability to discribe speciic requests for the size and coverage I want. Thank you so much.

Some of these other settings are gorgeous, but I really feel like I have my heart set on a this Leon style design with these diamond proportions.

@mochiko42 Your "ring math" is great! I am another one voting for trap sides after viewing all the lovely rings posted above. Great looking stone, congrats on your purchase.

I think a 5 stone would look great. For full ring coverage though, you'd need roughly a 1/2 eternity or 1/2 of the circumference, which should be about 28mm or so for size 7.25. (The diameter is straight across but when thinking about the layout of the gems you have to account for the curve of the shank, thus circumference may be also a good indicator)

I would really check with your jewelry designer for confirmation though because it may depend on the design of the setting. Here's a good chart for measurements http://www.ringsizes.co
