Pancake Ruby has had an eventful life.
Found in a tattered cardboard box which had been removed from the bottom of an old wardrobe and bought from an on site deceased estate auction. Who knew those rattling sounds would be gemstones and not buttons as I thought.
Then she went on an adventure, she was lost and I was concerned that a niece with a penchant for “collecting” might have slipped ruby into her pocket and taken Ruby home. Pancake Ruby was found again thankfully.
Then I decided to set her. I’m the queen of repurpose so I used a setting I had. The result was less than I hoped for so back she went for improvement. I was excited to receive her home again but I was horrified that under closer inspection the ring was a disaster and the ruby barely held by prongs. Very upset I was. Back to the jeweller who admitted that over Christmas it has gone to another bench and the result was frankly atrocious. So again in for improvement. This time the best bench and that meant a long wait as the Art Deco watch was also to be redone. The best bench needs to feel “inspired” so work is not done on a first in first out basis but on what feels right to do next.
Finally she is home.
Finally happy.
