Hi! Saw your wife''s Tiffany Wedding band. (beautiful) i want it however am considering a knock off from Excel. I noticed you were going to have her wedding band made there but opted for the Tiffany band. I was wondering what made you go with the Tiffany...did u c the Excel band in person? I would be buying blind...thats why I wanted your oppinion:) thanks

msp- i haven''t seen him around here lately so I don''t know if he''ll see this. Have you tried searching his old threads? I think if memory serves me correctly his wife''s favorite was the real Tiffany and he was also considering the memoire and the price wasn''t that different so he opted for the real thing. I hope he see''s this and can answer you directly though..

thanks for your reply!!! my favorite is the tiffany as well...however I cannot pay thier prices!!!:)

Maybe keep an eye on signed pieces or email them so they''ll look out for you.

the last time I looked at the pics of excel''s version it didn''t look to be a basket set eternity band like the real tiffany. so if you do go with them you might want to double check and make sure they make it like that if that is important to you.

Coco, I feel that I should make a comment here. My husband gave me this exact ring for our anniversary over the holidays. It was a fabulous deal. But I did return it because it was simply too large to fit with an e-ring. You''d have to have a very high set e-ring for the diamonds in the band not to hit the e-ring prongs. In addition, the band was much thicker and sat higher off the finger than any e-ring, so they just didn''t look right together.

In my opinion, the 2.8 ct. size is fabulous for a stand-alone wedding band or worn with another plain band. But I just don''t think it fits well with an e-ring. I just love my e-ring and Legacy band, and I just decided I did not need an alternate band that couldn''t be worn with the e-ring.

It is really gorgeous, though! I''d really like the smaller one.

I believe Leon Mege has made a basket eternity ring before. If I couldn''t have a Tiffany, I''d probably consider having Leon make one.

Hi,
I actually went to NY to see the Excel eternity band at Excel... Unfortunately, they don''t keep any inventory there (the "showroom" is more of an office--which is fine--but they don''t have a shop in-house; everything is sent out), so I was unable to see one of the settings in platinum. They had a sample setting in some silver colored metal with QZ''s in it, but didn''t have it in multiple ring sizes and only had 2-3 different carat weights (and nothing in the size we ultimately went with). One of the reasons I originally went with the Excel Tiffany replica ring was because I saw one of their settings in platinum and was really taken by it... Since the wedding band process involved my wife (e-ring didn''t), she wanted to see and try on rings and pair them with her ring... We went to Long''s Jewelers in Boston, a Mémoire dealer, and Tiffany''s in Chestnut Hill, and had rings in multiple ct weights (and sizes--important because a stock 6 looks HUGE on a 3.5 finger) brought in. Once my wife saw the different rings in person, in platinum, with diamonds in it, she fell in love with the T&Co one. She loved how the cutlet of each diamond showed when viewing from the side...

One other thing to note here... I did not go to any local independent shops to look at what they have / can do, while shopping for an eternity band. Not that I would return her ring, but if I were to buy another one I certainly would look at some local shops. We actually discovered one in Boston while having her other e-ring adjusted. One of the inevitable drawbacks to buying an e-ring online, is the need for adjustments, fixings etc, and my wife''s unwillingness to part with her ring for more than an hour at a time. ;) So we found a local shop that came recommended by a few people in Boston, and went there to have my wife''s engagement ring re-sized a 1/4 size as it was spinning a bit... The shop we found to do the sizing actually did all sorts of custom work and they actually looked at my wife''s wedding band and showed us how they would have designed it slightly different to better pair it with the band etc. I was actually pretty impressed--although that was partially because I was talking to a "tech" rather than a sales person... I guess my advice would be to look at a few local places to see the different options in person. It wasn''t until we''d seen 4-5 different bands in person that my wife really knew which she wanted.

Good luck!

Sure thing... They were recomended to me by a Boston area PS appraiser, Jeff Averbook. Alex (the wife) or Hagop (the husband) were great... Very PS "friendly." They had some laser cutting system--actually, I had my men's Tiffany band platinum wedding band resized there (same reason--didn't want to be without it for 2 weeks) and it came out fantastic.

I know I want a shared prong setting...deciding btween the air and the solid....whatever shared prong i go with will not be able to match my e ring--- I have 2 bands that are very similar to yours...i want to stack the shared prong between the two bands. (stacking) unfotunalty I am a size 6 so the one at signed pieces will not fit.

SNA77 THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY!!!! Heres the deal...I believe Excel would be getting the setting from Unique Setting of New York... http://www.uniquesettings.com/product/view/10187. now, the hang up for me is that if i get the ring and it is not like the Tiffany...I cannot get a FULL refund. based on the picture, do u think this is VERY similar or not? for this ring in platinum 3 carat g vs the price is around $4500.

Without seeing it in person it would be hard to say... Does the Unique Settings have a showroom you can go see?

we are in the same boat...however i wear my bands without the e ring quite often which is how I am justifying buying a band that really doesn/t fit well with the e ring!!!:)

Oh, I don''t know, sna!!! I really wear about a 5.25 on my left hand but my rings are 5.5 because I like them a little loose. But that ring felt like maybe a 5.75, so it was even looser than the others. It was too big to wear with my 1.6 ct. e-ring that is set pretty low. My right hand ring finger is a 6, and I could wear it on that finger now, in the winter. But I wasn''t sure whether I''d be able to in the summer. Plus, I really, really love eternity rings on the left hand since I relate them to being wedding or anniversary rings.

Someone has already bought it, and I will admit that I was having second thoughts. I probably should have kept it considering it would be very rare to be able to get a like-new condition Tiffany ring for that price.

Yes, it looks the most like the Tiffany of any that I have seen! In fact, if you had just posted the picture, I would have assumed it was the Tiffany! I''m curious how much Excel is charging for a ring similar to the Tiffany 2.86 ct. ring.

I dont think they have the prices on their site anymore... About a year ago, I think Excel wanted in the 6-7k range for a 2.8ct

it was about 4300.00 for g vs 3 carat. I noticed that the pic of the Unique setting thee diamonds are not sitting in the basket as low as the Tiffany one. Is that something that can be changed? also I thnik the prongs are more curved towards the center as opposed to straight for the Tiff&Co. Check out Martin Flyer.com he has one with 2.40 carats and I recieved a quote for $6800 on that one in plat as well.

My wife says the ring runs a little big too... she''s a 3.5 and when they custom made it, it came out to about a 3.75... Too bad it was just a bit too small for the right hand... BTW, how long do you have at SP to return?
