Hey! Hope everyone is well :). Ok so I normally do most of my posting on the colored stone side, so I don't have as much knowledge with diamonds. I will try to keep this short and sweet.

My best friend is getting engaged, and her soon to be fiancé has asked for my help with finding her a ring and diamond. Now she already has her heart set on a specific tacori ring, so I've got that part covered. However when looking at diamonds at the store, I was less than impressed. She is looking for a round stone, about .75 carats. The one that they want to sell us is 0.7 carats, no GiA cert but had some other weird card with it stating the specs. So according to the card it said this stone was an I color, cut graded very good, I1 clarity. And the price on that bad boy is 5100$ but they were willing to go to 4300$ because he wanted to stay around 7000$ total for stone and ring. I looked at the stone under a loupe and there is a large feather that runs right through the middle of the stone. Doesn't reach the girdle or anything but it does go right under the table. So I'm wondering and hoping that the experts here could find us a stone that would fit the budget and be a bit better quality? I should mention that we are in Canada and all the prices I mentioned are CAD. To sum it up, looking for a round modern cut stone, approximately 0.75 carats. Would love to get the best cut possible, and sacrifice in the other areas to fit the budget, which is about 4000$ CAD. He wants to propose in August so hopefully this is doable with all the shipping and stuff! Anything anyone can tell me would me a HUGE help!! I will do some more reading in the meantime to try and better my knowledge. Thanks so much!!

Glad you were able to help him avoid that potential disaster! In US dollars, you are looking at $3112. I'm sure Gypsy will be around later to help you.

I'm here. WOW. Good job! Good new is: if he was okay with an uncerted "I" color and "I clarity" he will be very happy with a REAL I or better color and SI1 or better and eyeclean clarity.

Top of budget but gorgeous (ask for idealscope but this one is perfectly safe even without one): http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8320876-0.75-carat-Round-diamond-G-color-VS1-Clarity.aspx?sku=8320876&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

Slightly less expensive but also lovely (and Vs1 as well so definitely eyeclean) make sure to ask for image and idealscope: http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8337560-0.75-carat-Round-diamond-G-color-VS2-Clarity.aspx?sku=8337560&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

Budget saver with posted idealscope (confirm stone is eyeclean and not overblue): http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.75-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-1123690

WHITEFLASH IS A TACORI DEALER:
And another budget saver: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3667403.htm?source=pricescope With a great idealscope image.

Top of budget and VS2: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3660693.htm?source=pricescope

Top of budget, 85 points and probably eyeclean (get image and idealscope): http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8041414-0.85-carat-Round-diamond-I-color-VS2-Clarity.aspx?sku=8041414&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

Budget saver AND 80 points and probably eyeclean (get image and idealscope, this one should be pretty safe without idealscope though, if they just have the image): http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8335843-0.80-carat-Round-diamond-I-color-VS2-Clarity.aspx?sku=8335843&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

Wow thanks so much Gypsy! You are truly a lifesaver! I am really liking the first one you posted as it is a higher color and clarity. I asked for the idealscope image for that one. I also really liked the whiteflash options, however by the time I clicked on the second link it was reserved already. So I freaked out and reserved the first whiteflash one just in case lol. I will need to look over all these options carefully as I'm definitely still learning here! And Diamondseeker thanks for reassuring me that the store diamond would have been a bad purchase :). Diamonds are definitely a different ball game than CS.

So, which Tacori is it she wants?

She wants the style TC 3807, or TC 1105. I will attach pictures of the first style. The second was is pretty much the same but with a little round detail in between the waves. It should be very pretty! It will be in 18k white gold.

Last time I asked (within the last few months), Whiteflash can no longer order from Tacori. If they have the setting you want in stock for your size stone, they can still do it, but can't get anything other than what's in stock. Just though I'd add that tidbit. :wavey:

Hey Rubybeth! Yes I checked that with them when I talked to them, they said they are no longer a Tacori dealer but they could still bring in tacori rings from a different supplier. They did say that prices would be the same everywhere pretty much so I decided just to get the diamond so I didn't have to deal with shipping a set ring over the border. :)
