I have a pad project for a ring. 1.69ct unheated Ceylon pad of lotus color.
Designed a colorful ring with Russian demantoid in diamond cut and Thai yellow sapphire to be set in rose gold. I'm excited on how it turns out! The photos don't do all the stones justice.
Lilmosun, the pad is from my gem trader's personal collection that she had kept for 10 years. It's quite difficult to come by a pad with such saturation these days. It's eye clean without a loupe but at 10x there are cluster minerals.
Burmesedaze, I really wanted something a bit playful this time and unusual but wearable everyday...I really hope it turns out well!
Thanks, everyone! A few more days and it should be done. Meantime, I'm trying to get my hands on more pads. Quite difficult to find but was able to find a couple of SI clarity Madagascan pads in lighter colors (It's the two bigger ones in the middle) compared to a hot pink, a vivid pink, and a peach sapphire. Let's have fun before I send them to the lab...
Checking some rutile inclusions...
Pads usually contain iron and chromium....It should fluoresce a bit....here 's the stone in the center:
Burmesedaze,
I sent a couple of the light colored pinkish orange stones to the lab. Only one was classified as a pad. Lol. The other one not because of a "duller/brownish" tone.
The pendant is an enhancer, so it can open at the back and hang on pearls, beads, etc. Here are the daylight photos sent by the jeweler.
I love the nature/floral feel of your ring. It reminds of pictures of Russian demantoid rings from the 1900's. The colors are so striking together. Please post hand shots when you have an opportunity to. Both pieces are so saturated and stunning.
wow Seaglow I love that pad ring. I love the design and colors. I have never seen pads with dematoids and that beautiful saturated pad looks great with the other saturated colors! Here in the USA Northeast everything is more gray despite the blue sky today so I especially love seeing those luscious warm, bright colors. Congrats. Love the pendant too. Those colors!!! Didn't realize it was so big.
