AHHH!!! Now that's the stone that I would expect CMW to purchase, not some brown coloured spinel.

Me too! It looks more like a vivid neon peach to me with a hint of tomato. If there''s such a thing.

That spinel is definitely alive! It''s gorgeous.

PR, you crack me up with your color descriptions, or you make me hungry. LOL!!

If you look at CMW''s spinel next to the ''mystery'' stone, you can really see the brown stand out in the ''mystery'' stone.

Colored Stone Side Effect: intense infatuation, maxed out credit cards and hunger.

*excuse the hijack, CMW*

TL, I took some pics of the ring, but the stone is currently out of the setting. I was a bit disappointed. It was basically a cleftless heart being forced to fit into a round head. The pointy end was left bare. I''m back to square one now.

No problemo. All is excused.

Since we are discussing what we see on or moniters. On mine my avatar looke orangish red. ( pink ) . As for differnt lighting both stones look more orange in fluorescent, more red in incandescent and orangered in natural light. Most spinels that have red seem to lose a lot of saturation in fluorescent lighting. Also if there is any brown componet fluorescent light will bring it out. With thse two stones fluorescent lighting just really brings out a vivid orange.

I love your spinel Doug. I will take it, if you are tired of it.

I thought a PAD was really a light-medium SALMON color??

Scarey to see how one can manipulate the color WITHOUT changing the background much...wow.

The red Spinel is gorgeous.

Thank you ger100 for the compelment aboiut the spinel. In the first picture I saw what looked like the same hue as the flower picture. So I posted the tread asking if others were seeing the same padpardsch color in the desaturated picture.

As for defining padpardscha coilor I will leave that up to the experts.

It is scarey what computer maipulation can do. For example I can also make it look like some of thse pictures I have seen on e bay.

The problem with those e-bay vendors is that they over-colour correct to the point it becomes unbelieveable for the price posted. I think if they just tweaked it a little, then maybe they'll have more customers?

Oh CMW, that spinel now glows like it struck by sub-atomic particles.

It does not look like that IRL
Are you refering to the unaltered picture? If so, then what does it look like in person? I know you deliberately cooked that last picture just for fun.
