Oval Halo Help

Need help with my hunt for a "delicate" oval halo. Total budget is approximately $5,500. Would like the diamond to be around 1 carat (.9ish is fine); at least G in color and as low as SI2 if pretty much eye clean.

I am "scoping" this stone and would love feedback:

Also scoping this Eternity by Yoni setting (if it can be made for an oval):

My main questions are (and these may be questions best posed to E by Y but would love any scopers feedback):

- is it typically better (price, logistics, quality, etc) to get the stone and setting from the same vendor?
- do JA and Yoni work together or is this an odd combo?
- what size should the halo diamonds be for a "delicate halo" look (I've read "5 pointers" are good)?
- are there other reasonably priced halo settings that I should consider?

In the linked Yoni setting, I love the basket but would like the cathedral shanks(?) to come in and meet more underneath the halo and closer to the sides of the basket. Not sure how that would be described in ring-talk. If anyone has seen anything like that please point me to pics/vendor. Any other suggestions are very much welcome. I have been lurking for a while and learned a lot from these forums but have a lot more to learn!!

Does Yoni provide ASETs for ovals?

You need either a VERY good video or an ASET. But honestly, preferably both.

I rather like the JA oval you linked to... as long as that's not "mush" I'm seeing on either side of the bow-tie area. Have JA provide an ASET for you to be sure. I love the L/W ratio and the fact that there's no bow-tie effect going on. :))

I think what you meant to say is that you do not care for the raised shoulders. Hope that helps! :wavey:

Here is the ASET from James Allen. Please please let me know what you think!!!

Hi Kal,

I have seen better oval ASET but it actually looks like a pretty stone, it does have various positive factors. You would need to check that not only is it eye clean to your specifications but also that the twinning wisps aren't causing a loss of brilliance and or transparency, one of JA's gemologists will be able to advise you there.
