Hi all!

I have been lurking all over this forum for the past two weeks. I have picked up a TON of valuable information that will help me make an informed purchase (I hope!)

Anyways, after much searching, I think I found a great stone within my price range (3k). I am switching out my center .5 carat RB for an oval. I have a simple platinum setting with two small pear side stones. I was hoping to make it to 1 carat, but cut and color are important to me, so I've sacrificed on size. This is what I found:

GIA, Oval Shape, 0.86 Carat, Excellent Cut, G Color, VS2 Clarity
1.43 lw, depth 64.2, table 57, no fluor, medium thick girdle
7.60x5.31x3.41
Bowtie is very subtle. It doesn't have a black bowtie, but rather a grayish gradient near the center as the stone moves from side to side.

Do you think 2900 is a decent price for this stone or do you think I could do better? TIA x 10!

Hi Sabiboo,

Looking at the measurements of the stone, it definitely is facing up small like 1.10 carats and you have it listed as 1.43 tcw. Something to consider. Most people will chime in if you have a picture to attach or a link because numbers are not tell all for fancies.

Hi Fancygems!

Thanks for the response. Sorry if it wasn't very clear in my original post, but this is actually a .86 carat diamond with 1.43 length width ratio. There is a link to the image in the original post.

Thanks for your feedback :))

Oh I'm sorry! Then the spread is good! Ratio is nice for an oval not too long and skinny and not too fat, table and depth are within recommended range. Unfortunately, the numbers do not tell us about the bow tie. If you are working with a trusted vendor then they can comment on the performance. If you cannot use your own eyes then you need to use theirs, wonder how many mains this oval has. Eight mains are usually a positive sign.
