I suspect that most people viewing the stone would also see it head on if it were worn as a pendant, thus minimizing the effect (at least if I understand the explanations correctly), but the main thing is: you will never see it and so don''t have to worry about it. Win!

The trade off is that the wearer can’t see the stone now, although at least it’ll get set and worn rather than languishing in a gem box. It is still a good idea though and something I will consider for my ½ and ½ tourmaline
