My boyfriend and I are planning on ordering the the Tiffany legacy replica from Excel diamonds. We want to order a square cushion for the setting, and our price range for the stone is 1,000 - 1,500. My big concern is a nice sized spread for the stone, as I have larger hands and fingers. We also want to order the stone from Excel if we can. This is the stone we are currently looking at:

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
Item Number : 240545KP
Carat : 0.6
Clarity : VVS2
Color : H
GIA SPECIFICATIONS
Measurements: 5.44 x 5.39 x 2.51
Depth: 46.6
Table: 65%
Polish: Very good
Symmetry: Very good
Fluorescence: None

I realize that this is very very shallow for a cushion - is this stone still worthy of consideration? Any advice would be appreciated - we are hoping to place our order very soon.

Many thanks!

I think you can do much better. This cushion is going to look like a pancake!

Try going down in clarity and uping the size. In my opinion, there is no point getting a large spread when it doesn't sparkle at all.

The photos on James Allen site aren't working for me so I can't see the inclusions. This one is still pretty shallow but a bit deeper - http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI2-Premium-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1176390.asp

I would pass quite honestly, I know you can't properly judge a cushion by the numbers within reason, however IMO that is way too shallow, I doubt it would look good.

I ditto dropping the clarity to VS or even a verified eyeclean SI to broaden the options.

HA! The pancake comparison made me giggle.
What about this one?

You really need to see photos of cushions. Numbers are only part of the story.

Ditto, Sorry Kimmels but we really can''t tell much by numbers, pictures are needed.

You need to either have Mark at ERD or Jonathan at GOG call in some cushions for you. They know how to pick excellent ones. Then take the stone to Excel to set. As the others have said, you cannot pick a cushion by the numbers. You have to have pictures.

Just out of curiosity, have you seen Legacys with center stones at .5-.6? I almost think that setting needs a little larger diamond than that, to be honest. Cushions face up smaller than rounds usually, which makes them appear even smaller. I''d just suggest looking at some if you haven''t to be sure you like the legacy with that size stone. Another option would be to spend all your money now on a cushion and just set it in an inexpensive solitaire and then for an anniversary after you have saved more money, you could have it set in the Legacy setting.
