I don't have a limit. I like the ease and chemically non reactive nature of platinum. I also dont like super shiny metal.
Even in colored metal shanks, many will argue for white metal prongs.
Platinum won't hold a high gloss like the rhodium plating on white gold.

Palladium is a bit harder than platinum (Mohs Hardness, scratch), but a bit more deformable (Vickers Hardness). Platinum is heavy, palladium is lighter than 14k gold. But, its is not really any better at holding a high shine. At least with platinum and palladium, polishing does not remove metal. Palladium is still pretty new to the trade in its pure form, so lots of jewelry don't know how to work with it.So what is one to do when one likes super shiny metal but doesn't want to deal with replating or frequent polishing? Any thoughts on palladium?
