I am a newbie looking for a stone for an engagement ring. Here is the WF link:

Thoughts on cut / clarity? Is this a reasonable price for the above?

If I were to increase size to 1.5ct, what attributes would I need to sacrifice in order to stay under 10K budget?

Thanks so much for your help.
Welcome to Pricescope ajmm!

Lets just fix your link then I will take a look for you,

The diamond looks great. If you wanted to hit the 1.5 ct mark you could find there is a price jump there as you are hitting what is called a ' magic weight'. You could definitely lower the clarity and possibly the colour. As to the cut quality, unless you particularly wanted a branded h&a you could consider one of WF's Expert Selection stones if they have one in the size and budget, you could give them a call or email them to see what they suggest. One thing I would mention, if you are going to lower the clarity to SI grades, be careful with diamonds that have grade making clouds marked on the clarity plot of the report, this isn't normally a problem with hand selected h&a diamonds that are in house, but with others be cautious as if clouds are responsible for an SI clarity grade, these can sometimes impact performance.

Another ACA in budget, J colour but the size you want,

This is an Expert Selection stone, it is a little deep and is facing up a bit small for the weight too but it is still a well cut diamond,

Looks good.

Urgh, too slow.
Drop clarity to an eye-clean SI1 and maybe I color or go with a non H&A stone should be able to get you over the 1.5c mark.

For example, these 2 looks promising. Ask JA if these are eye-clean and request for an idealscope image if interested.

Pretty!

nice!

Lorelei,

In the Expert Selection stone you recommended above, what do you mean by:

"little deep and facing up a bit small for the weight"

I''m still new to evaluating diamonds so I''m just wondering what that means.

Thanks :)

Lorelie's personal preference for depth is 62.4% max, so that stone is a little deep for her, deeper stone usually face up smaller too compared to a near tolk cut, these face up generally around 7.4mm. That stone is nice, cut more for fire, with a higher crown, steeper crown angle and with a complementary pavilion angle, no light leakage in the IS.

Stonecold is right, thanks for the explanation, at 62.7% the diamond is a bit deep for me personally for this type of diamond however it is a well cut stone nevertheless and would get you 1.5cts for the budget.
